Bayonetta is a niche game with a small fanbase that is mainly on the other consoles. The first game didn't exactly light the charts up either. Splatoon got the AAA marketing treatment and is more mainstream. Art style didn't sell that game.

Yeah a game at 2 mio sold units for the predecessor, sold bundeld with the first game for moderate price, which got marketing like: cosplay in playboy magazine and tv commercials cant compete with a new ip which got a kids/squid advertisment. okay.

Both game had the same range. Dont try to find excuses that dont exist. Splatoon sold that good because its cartoony and rated e. Most wii u Owners are kids and they dont play realisitc looking rated m games.

The game sold 2 million units across two consoles that had "hardcore" reputations and had a combined install base of 100+ million. The second game sold 600k on 10% of that install base. Bayonetta 2 had ads but not as much as Splatoon. You rarely see Nintendo go as far as they did with Splatoon.

The commercial getting the same amount of views on YouTube doesn't change the fact that Bayonetta is a niche title, and what do the positive ratings on YouTube have to do with anything?

So, basically develop the Wii-U version separately and differently, as if it were an exclusive? Not a bad idea, but it's already been attempted. Plus, even if that would help bolster sales, the increase wouldn't be anywhere near close to justify the costs.

Liar, they didn't port more games due to lack of professionalism. EA sabotaged all their wii u titles. the others released when the installed base was at it's lowest and still sold decently for their low efforts. sales could only get higher with continuous support and the natural installed base growth, but I guess haters are always gonna hate and ignore this.

Ah im a liar and they dont port more games?

Deus Ex human Revolution wasnt ported?

Monster Hunter 3 wasnt ported?

Watch Dogs wasnt ported?

Splinter cell wasnt ported?

The Walking dead: survival instinct wasnt ported?

Ninja Gaiden 3 wasnt ported?

Resident Evil: Revelations wasnt ported?

Injustice wasnt ported?

Sorry but you are the liar.

BTW some comparisons:

COD Bo2 released at wii u´s launch and sold 0,29mio copies. Ghost was released 1 year later and sold 0,26 mio copies.

Cod Ghost released at ps4´s launch and sold 3mio copies.

Cod Ghost was released at xbox ones launch and sold 2,4mio copies.

All 3 consoles had the same installed hw base (0) at the launch of the 3 cods. Please stop talking shit, thanks.

Assassins creed 3 at wiiu launch: 0,33mio

Assassins creed 4 (1 year later, much bigger installed hw base): 0,26mio

The Deus Ex: HR, Watch Dogs, I will throw in the ports of Mass Effect 3, Tekken Tag Torunament 2 and other third party games put on the Wii U were all late ports. Extremely late as in more then a year after the original release in some cases. While there were some that arrived on time, in today's gaming world, no one waits for late ports aside from the hardcore PC gamer that doesn't want to get a console.

I do agree that some of the titles that were released multiplatform at the same  time and didn't get much love but given how some companies refused to make DLC available for their Wii U efforts and pretty much most declared before 18 months were up they were giving up on the system while still supporting titles on the PS3 and 360 along with their PS4 and Xbox One counterparts, it is hard to say they didn't have anything to do with the Wii U's struggles.

All that being said on the main topic, 3rd parties can be reasonably successful on the Wii U by making decent games that are exclusive to the platform. You saw some of that in the Wii era before most gave up because they weren't getting COD type numbers on the platform for certain genres. Which is funny because when making games on other platforms they still never got the COD type of numbers they seem to have been aiming for. But all that being said, giving some exclusive support on certain titles that would appeal to the Wii U's traditional following would have netted them some good sales.

People talk about install bases but the key to these bases are actually built on the premise of there being a foundation. For about 4 generations now outside the early portion of the Gamecube life cycle, there hasn't been a lot of solid 3rd party support on Nintendo consoles outside of ones that we sell now like Skylanders and Just Dance.  Many of the 3rd party exclusive games you can say were classic usually wound up being ported, under supported in terms of features compared to other system (although whether that is third party developer's effort or because of the system and structure varies from game circumstance to game circumstance) and overall one can make the excuse it is because Nintendo fans only want to play Nintendo games but you could also say it is because they just don't trust other publishers/developers due to prior experiences on previous Nintendo platforms.

Time will tell if this changes with the NX but no one party or group is solely to blame for 3rd party issues on the Nintendo Wii U

the bolded is completly false, otherwide, GTA5 for current gen, Bioshock PS3, ME2 PS3, Last of Us PS4 ALL would have flopped.

ZombiU sold as bad as Bayonetta 2. Devils third will sell that bad. All realistic multiplatforms sold even worse. If you cant see the reason your blind sorry.

The rating just shows how good the advertisment was. So bayo2 got alot better advertisment, scince more people liked it. Splatoons advertisment was bad (at least this one, the most popluar). So why should a game with advertisment that got disliked by alot people sell better as a game with advertisment that got incredible good rating? Doesnt make much sense huh? Because its "niche"? So a shooter where you shoot ink and play as a squid without voicechat, without friends lobbys, with 5 maps on release is mainstream? You cant be serious about this.

Bayonetta 2 isnt more "niche" as bloodborne. Please check bloodbornes sales.

Also: Please explain why rated m realistic looking titles like Assassins Creed (0,3m) and Call of duty (0,3m) (which are incredibly sucsessfull on ps and xbox) are selling almost nothing on wii u even if they got a incredible high marketing campaign (for all plattforms!) but on the otherhand smaller titles which are aimed at kids and rated e like Disney Infinity (0,5m), Skylanders (0,5m) or Sonic All star racing transformed (0,4m) sold in relation to Xbox one [Disney Infitiy (0,25m); skylanders (0,2m)  on a similar installed hw base with alot less marketing very good?

It would be intresting to see how Bayonetta sold on PS4 or XB1.

with marketing like nintendo did?

Easy 2mil ps4; 1mil one

You will get at least something "similar". ZombiU for ps4/xboxone.

the OP essentially wants 3rd parties to make games that are different from there PS4/X1 counterpart, keep it mind that would be more expensive and it wouldnt do well anyway cause, 1. the install base for the system is terrible 2, people arent stupid they are going to know thats not the REAL version of the game. it didnt really work with WIi and that was a system that didnt flop
