"SMTxFE looks better than Persona 5"

Care to show me any gameplay of Persona 5? This is a game that's supposed to release in 2015 right?

I wasn't talking about graphics btw.

So now SMTxFE is better because you've seen more gameplay from it? And I'm not talking about graphics either.

Me having played Persona 4 and 3 (and the first half of 2), I can see the ways Persona 5 changes up the formula of that game for the better through the footage we've gotten. I can see none of that in SMTxFE, the battle system looks ok, but anyone that played Persona knows that the battling part is really not what makes the game great.

The battle system is different because it blends together the different elements of the Fire Emblem franchise with Shin Megami Tensei.

It uses a weapon pyramid system similar to Fire Emblem.

You have to discover the weaknesses of the monsters/mirages you're fighting against similar to the Shin Megami Tensei franchise.

And by completing side quests and battling alongside each other your team members can improve their relationship which in turn will lead to bonuses on the battlefield. Just like you can do in the Fire Emblem franchise. You can also unleash session attacks (multiple team-members working together to attack the mirages). This will most likely be tied into the relationship building aspect of the Fire Emblem games.

The story is also a lot more dark than the happy J-POP nature atmosphere would lead you to believe.

Here are the (English) lyrics of one of the songs in the game:

I want to destroy all of the important things I’ve held onto
You can heal me of this painful loneliness

(Chorus) Reincarnation, Realization

…I want to disappear

The noise of the endless city streets
The melancholy of false smiles
The real face behind them, in a way that has never been seen

Whenever someone is anxious
Even if they don’t say it, we know it
I want to destroy all of the important things I’ve held onto, give me the courage

But, I won’t be up front about it
Even when I’m lost, even when I’m troubled, I still want you
At least, I will destroy this painful loneliness

(Chorus) Reincarnation, Realization

I want to be reborn

(Speech): I will never escape.

The game is also voice acted by famous Japanese voice actors who are elso great singers. The dance animations are also choreographed by professionals. A lot of effort went into all of this. More than I thought initially.

This is a good example of the dark nature of the game, with well choreographed dance animations and good singing all in one cutscene.

But like I said, if I end up liking Genei Ibun Roku I will also buy Persona 5. They just need to show off some gameplay already. Showing off gameplay shows that the developer is confident in his or her product. That's why I dislike (CGI) cutscenes as trailers for the most part.

Music is so good

Epic post :) that gif has me laughing.

Both look like awesome games btw, imo both are must haves.

I think P5 looks abit better than SMTxFE, but seriously both are looking like games that would please even the most cold hearted reviewer/critic.

Totally agree. I don't know why it has to be either or. Both games are different and have their own merits, so...

The sad part is dispite how awesome these games will be to play....
some silly fps shooter is probably gonna out sell them by millions of units ; _ ;

I wouldn't be too worried about that. As long as Atlus smartly advertises and the JRPGs get good word of mouth, they should do fine.

If you read my posts you'd have known that I want both. I said if I end up liking Genei Ibun Roku I will definitely buy Persona 5. I love the visual artstyle of Genei Ibun Roku and that was obviously inspired/copied from the Persona franchise.

I just stated that Genei Ibun Roku looks more interesting to me at the moment, in part due to the Fire Emblem influences/cameos.
