Meh, minor details worthy only of a nitpicker. The milestone is 1 million, no one cares about the following 100K unless they are particularly insecure about this sort of thing.

As to your question. When celebrating the achievement of 1 million in sales it is useful to put it in context. 1 million in sales is so commonplace nowadays that with certain games 1 million is a flop unless it's a first stepping stone to 4 million or more. So I was curious to see the performance of Splatoon vs other games in the broad shooter category when they started out in life. And I thought it was interesting to see that there are just a few shooters over the last 2 generations that began with this level of achievement. This therefore makes Splatoon not just a good sales success "for [damning with faint praise] a Wii U game", it actually makes Splatoon an unconditional sales success.

It doesn't have to be a new IP. it has to be recent. FFS the first bioshock is listed.. and it came out on Next gen the month after destiny..

Read the thread title:  New IP Shooters.  As in the first entry of a new franchise, not the fifth entry of a storied franchise with one of the top three metacritic averages of any franchise.  It is not a fair comparison.  That would be like comparing first month sales of the original Witcher to the first month sales of Skyrim, the fifth entry in a series that has grown ~%100 with every entry since Morrowind.

Also he was talking about BioShock 1.  Not BioShock Infinite (the one that launched in 2013).  And BTW, there is no BioShock on PS4 or Xbone.

TLOU in less than a week if I recall correctly. Well, there're tons of other shooters that accomplished this "feat".

Yes TLOU achieved it, but I am not sure if it counts as shooter. It's listed as action-adventure or survival-horror usually.

I think it's primarly a thrid person shooter in the gameplay. Then it's an action-adventure game for everything else xD
