Forums - Sales Discussion - How much will Super Mario Maker boost Wii U?

How much do you think Wii U will sell the week of the games launch? I think 100k also price cut to 249.99 that week

If there's a price cut then that will boost Wii U as a price cut would boost any game hardware, but in terms of a single game boosting the Wii U, really at this point I wouldn't expect anything massive. Even with Splatoon the hardware sales are just "bad" instead of "really bad".

Maybe like 50k, 60k at the highest. In other words like a 20-30k boost, with 50k-60k weekly sales. Might be too high imo.

Can't wait for The Zelder Scrolls 3: Breath of The Wild Hunt!

Considerably. Everyone wants to be the first to make the next Cat Mario.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

As in globally in the U.S? Or as in globally in Japan?

I think it'll boost hardware, but not by much unless they promote THE HELL of that game. Make dat nostalgia get you some hardware sales girl.

l don't think the initial boost will be especially dramatic, but l expect the game to sell well for a long time with people getting round to buying the console to play it. The game itself could end up being the Wii U's best seller when all's said and done.

The game will obviously do really well for the people that already own a Wii U but i'm not sure how much it will boost hardware unless Nintendo really promotes it and advertises it like they did with Splatoon.

Very little to no impact on hardware sales. I don't believe it to be a hardware mover.

Unfortunately, a glorified level editor isn't going to move systems. I could see a relatively unsubstantial boost, but nothing worth writing home about. I mean, I really, really, really doubt that anybody out there has been thinking "yes, Mario Maker, this is exactly what the Wii U needed to make it worth buying, what a killer app".

Hard to tell, I guess it depends on people's urges to make penis stages
