I'd take Xenoblade and Fatal Frame over Call of Duty and Epic Mickey any day

So would I, but I'll also take any of those Wii games over Mario Maker, and most of them over Starfox Zero.

I think people are sleeping on Mario Maker big time. That's going to be a big hit for them IMO. Even if Zelda was a 2015 launch title, I'd have put money on Mario Maker outselling it in the long run.
Nintendo entering the creator-game genre is long overdue and doing it with 2D Mario that almost everyone understands is big.
Lets wait and see with Star Fox Zero too ... I don't really care about the graphics, what I was hesitant about was that there would extremely forced game pad gimmick game play, but the core game play still seems to be fully Star Fox, the game pad just creates more of a feel of being inside of a cockpit.

Mario Maker is smart from a sales POV, but I'd never buy it in a million years, not even if it was $10.
I am in wait and see mode for Starfox, but it'll have to exceed my expectations by quite a bit to measure up to the likes of DKCR, Goldeneye, or Kirby's Epic Yarn.

Well, if those are your criteria, then the two Zelda games on the Wii shouldn't be "generous" picks like you said in response to curl. The same goes for any other longrunning IP that attained a good Metascore. So the Wii definitely had a good amount of great games. Back to Star Fox, it's obvious that you make all possible excuses to play up the Wii U lineup and all possible excuses to play down the Wii lineup. But that was already clear with your first post in this thread. If somebody throws around terms like "real gamer", "true gamer" or "GAMER", then that's a foolproof indicator for irrational bias. |
And I did include both Zelda games in my criteria. That still only comes to 6-7 games total for the Wii.
The Wii and Wii U aren't that far other in actual quality games.
Even curl admits this holiday season for the Wii U is as good as any the Wii had in its lifetime. Yet one system is getting crapped on. I'm just calling it how I see it.
Line up the Nintendo releases for Wii through its first three years to the Wii U lineup in its first three years. The Wii U compares very favorably in terms of actual quality software.
Wii U only compares well if you only compare the top handful of games. The wii had loads of good games, the library had a huge amount of depth if you knew how to pick out the good ones from the bad, with the Wii U things start to fall apart after the top tier. Most people just discount most of the library because they haven't played it and because of the reputation of the wii. 3rd parties did support it with lots of mid-low budget games, many good japanese games and niche games as well.
currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Agreed. Most of the people who bash Wii for it's library either never owned one or don't know how to find the diamonds in the rough. There was tons of quality stuff, but most of it was obscure and niche titles that were never advertised.

I admitted no such thing. Wii 2010 was superior.

I wouldn't call those third party games diamonds, but there was a good number of games that were sufficient as fillers or even good (not great, but good). For the Wii U there is almost nothing worth of value. I will own hardly any third party games for this console by the end of its lifetime. |
Okay, diamonds is stretching it, but yeah, there were plenty that offered quality experiences; your 7-8/10 games.
On Wii U there's the top tier, and not much else.

Also this.
I thought Wii Sports Resort was one of the best games of 2009, does that make me not a "true gamer"?
