Sony is going to win in this based off of sheer popularity, but the GOTY contenders are mainly in Microsofts hands this year.

You are being an hypocrite bruh. There is no such thing as GOTY and that term is based off popularity anyway, not facts or qaulity. Then you complain that Sony will win in this thread for popularity? LOL come on on.

We all know Halo 5 will be the biggest exclusive so far this generation and as usual that is all MS has along with another Forza. They have nothing else and nothing all year.

No one cares about Forza as much as it is hyped and TR will go to PS4 and will be no where any GOTY -even though that term is stupid- and Sony has more variety as they always do.

So if only BIG games count than Halo 5 is the only exclusive on XbnoxOne then and both Forza and TR (timed) are irrelevant by your logic.People kill me trying to discredit the games on the PS4 when if they were on WiiU or Xbox or PC they would be hyped by those fan bases. Those are the facts.

Personally I would play TR,but could careless about Halo or Forza. Most games I want this year are multiplat besides Disgaea,Until Dawn,Tearaway,No Man's Sky and Persona 5.I would take those games over any generic FPS and boring racing game anyday, but that is my taste.

Easy choice.. Just PS4's October alone is enough to give the victory. And there's still the possibility of Persona 5 and Nep Nep in November.

shhhh, those arent real games... aparently our niche tastes shouldnt even be listed =P

Sony has the usual breadth of titles, MS has a good looking lineup to come later in the year, but I don't see where the idea they have multiple GOTY contenders is coming from. Forza won't be in the discussion, Halo isn't what it used to be, not even close, and Tomb Raider looked underwhelming at E3, though may have an outside chance. MS lineup is harder to judge at this stage, simply because nothing major has even released for the system, despite half the year going by, and the discussion is based entirely on potential.

But it is all down to personal preference after that. Some people aren't interested in a wide range of titles or IPs or Japanese games, so are happy with Xbox's usual offerings this year, Halo, Gears, Forza and Fable, with some small original indie games and a big timed exclusive to round it off. Which is fine. But for me, the much greater variety and quantity on PS4 makes it the winner. Which is nice as a PS4 owner, as I thought X1 won launch and 2014.

Its the first Halo of the gen. Its going to move consoles. Plus they have the Gears remake and Tomb Raider. Essentially the biggest exclusives of the year are on Xbox.

These list wars are hilarious. It's so funny watching people get so up in arms over which system has the 'better games'. I wouldn't have bought the system I did if I didn't find the games more appealing and the same goes for anyone else. Trying to convince myself or anyone else which system has the better games is pretty much futile. With that said, xbo has the better lineup imo.

You act like that everyone likes FPS or halo & gears. They are the biggest exclusives for the xbox one for just FPS fans. I'm sure that halo and gears will help sell a lot of consoles

I don't think tomb raider will sell many xbox ones when everyone in the gaming world knows it's a timed exclusive.

The 2015 PS4 line up is alot more diversified with AAA games from different genres and 5 times better because of that. It makes more people happy overall.

Are you sure about that? What AAA exclusives does the PS4 have this year?

How can you decide if a game is AAA or not without knowing the specific cost of a game ? You can only make a guess.  If for you, a AAA game is just a game with pretty graphics, that means a prettier game will be more AAA than an other ?

Remember when GTA was that "crappy looking" top down game? :D

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

i really find all the silly and sometimes petty discussions on what a AAA game is nowadays to be quite petty and makes many gamers just look not all that smart. At least to me, a AAA game is and always will be (until digital fully takes over) a retail game. I'm not talking digital games that get retail releases later either. I mean a game that on day one, is on retail. That, at least to me makes a game AAA. If you compare retail game budgets to digital, they are massively bigger. That is what the old definition used to be basically. Nowadays, gamers debate what is AAA based on nothing but sheer opinion which is really lame.

Start counting ALL RETAIL TITLES(non that release as digital first) as AAA

Just had to get that off my chest.....

That tells you how being " AAA" is subjective, if we forget the marketing budget ( since it has nothing to do with game quality ) , the only things that matter is to get a quality/ambitious game, that should be the real meaning of AAA if you are a gamer, in what way can we tell that Persona is less ambitious ( i dont even argue on the quality, it's Persona 5, spiritual sequel of Persona 4G, that says enough ) than a game like Forza, TR ,... ? The only difference  are visuals, but if the visuals are the most important thing , i dont understand why these people dont buy a PC/PS4 right now   but except that,  if P5 is even half of what P4G is, it will without any doubt be a better rated game than any other exclusive this year except Bloodborne maybe, a far much longer game,  with crazy amount of content/ voice acting, a cult OST, with deep gameplay and immersion, very decent graphic and will surely become one of the  most beloved RPG of the generation, a cult game.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

I agree, for me and many others, even Dragon Quest Heroes is AAA  , it's a retail game, it'll all we should know, too much subjectivity on what is AAA or not, there is no way to know a game's budget so we should consider a retail game as AAA , as simple, except few small retail games like Wii Party of things like that of course

I think " subjective AAA " is now the new excuse to say " my favorite console has a better year even if the other has more quality retail games because mine are AAA "

AAA games tend to get the benefit of the doubt traditionally in gaming. There is no hypocrsy in that. Sony even admitted their lineup pre e3 was "sparse".

It doesn't matter which games you prefer or have a bias towards, I just said Halo & Tomb Raider sealed the deal for 2015 for microsoft on the AAA end. There are already enough AAA GOTY contenders in Batman, Fallout 4, The Witcher 3 and more to go around. These are all high quality sequels which are given the benefit of the doubt by default and then we tend to cut them off the list if they dont come up to snuff in the end. Sony's only AAA GOTY contender is Bloodborne. The order sold well enough to probably get a sequel, but when it comes to the critical response they missed the boat completely.

I like Sony games myself, but even Sony knows that their 2016 is going to be better than their 2015, which Microsoft considers 2015 to be one of their biggest years in general (Which when you look at what their offering third to fourth quarter it kind of is). If were talking mid tier games? yeah....Sony won by a mile, but AAA? MS has this plain and simple.

MS even stated that they arent even finished with what they have to show. Gamecom is where they are having yet another conference for their 2016 lineup. Sony blew their load and threw all their cards on the table, while MS focused their E3 primarily on 2015. MS admitted while they have Quantum Break and Scalebound gameplay to show they still have some newer games to show as well. Seems they have their priorities straight and are investing in AAA's more since Sony said they couldnt make as many as they made last gen.

If you don't think Halo is a GOTY the year contender thats all well and good(but pretty sad when you think of the legacy you're downplaying). Doesn't even matter if you don't like the game the respect for what Halo has done for FPS in the gaming community is still due. I used to hate halo, but even I fell for it all over again once I played the Master Chief Collection and am currently watching the TV show to catch up for Halo 5.
