Forums - Microsoft Discussion - ReCore has only been in development for 14 months??? EDIT: And is just now going into full production???

That is not confidence inspiring at all. You know, after watching the trailer I called it Knack with robots. I fear I may have been more accurate than I thought.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Only? 14 months sounds like a long time to me!

For a new retail IP in this generation? That I'm assuming is not being worked on by a 300 people team? It sounds extremely short to me that this is supposed to come out after only 2 years of development.

It may be pushing on the shorter side of dev times, but I've no doubt they've already got quite a bit of the work done, 14 months of work is still a lot of work. If they weren't confident that had made enough progress in that time then they wouldn't have scheduled a release period already. Maybe they will have an unexpected hitch and have to delay it or something, but that's a risk regardless of how long they've already been working on it.

But they just showed a CGI trailer...more than half way through the dev cycle and they don't have any gameplay to show?

I'm actually less worried about the game hitting its release date than I am "worried" about what the game will actually be, maybe it's a digital only title, I don't think that was ever specified.

It is quite possible Kenji has had this game in mind for years but only worked actively with it in these last 14 months.

The game only had a CG trailer. I wonder why. Microsoft should have shown some gameplay.

People are worried about this and know Gears 4 is launching in 2016. MS doesn't care who they have to pay, they just want the games completed now.

A lot of games are developped in 24 months or less like UC2 or Resistance 2.

Gameplay is expected in the next months, my guess is Gamescom.

Last generation and notice the "2" in both of your examples.

Keiji can make a game in two years. People are just going to have to be reserved about their expectations when it comes right down to it.
