Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Would PS4 like performance be enough for Nintendo NX?

No, it should have at least 4 times the performance of a PS4/Xbox One.

Although, I have to see any game or interaction from it, so right now it's just bunch of smoke and mist anyway so who really knows.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

I think there are many ways Nintendo can hit the market with a successful product but all of them need so much work by Nintendo. If they want to expand their userbase beyond just Nintendo fans they need to get third parties back on board. At the very least their new console needs to be at some level of x86/Radeon to make conversions easy. The main issue is creating a decent controller that appeals to everyone including young children. The design of the console and marketing must make the console appeal to a wide audience.

At the end of the day though the way to get people to buy your console is to have amazing exclusive games. The more amazing these games the more likely people will buy your console.

They may possibly go for a powerful console.

I remember Iwata stating that the western markets preferring high end machines during the last investor meeting.

This may be the line of thinking they are looking into to make their next console

Nintendo is never really going to get 3rd party support like the HD twins, so i think the best option is to go weak and cheap.

Quick and easy development and a cheap price will get the games flowing and it flying off shelves. Nintendo fans are no so anal about graphics

Don't they? thats why the Wii U is doing so well then, regardless have how good Nintendo first party is it's not good enough to make up the gap third parties leave.

I think that the marketing/gamepad was the WiiU's downfall.

Weak and cheap can be a deadly combo, case in point - the wii

The wii didnt give a damn about 3rd party

One of the main problems is everyone has this stupid mindset that whatever Nintendo makes is deemed a kiddie product.

Dont sell them a controller that looks like a toy tablet then.

Design the consol to look modern and edgy and something that belongs in the liveing room.

Dont make Ads that feature kids playing games, focus marketing towards teens and up.

Nintendo can get rid of that image, if they actually work to change it..... the problem is, they dont, its not like nintendo are mis understood.

Nintendo focus group are the really young gamers.

Assuming the NX is a home console (which isn't confirmed); enough for what? To have even bigger software droughts than the Wii U?

All I want if it's a home console is that it doesnt have a weird architecture which makes it easier to develop for.

Make it so 3rd party can port to it easily. And secure all the big 3rd party like gta, fallout,Fifa and cod. Then make amazing Nintendo games. Then advertise like the world depends on it. Advertise your gta 6 and your xenoblades. Advertise the next huge 3d donkey Kong and Mario. Make the console look good and not a toy. Make it powerful.

End of day it's do or die for Nintendo home consoles. Go out guns blazing not quietly like a wimpering dog.

The issue when it comes to Nintendo and game development is that their handheld and console game dev teams were all separated. It meant that they were all doing their own thing and it wasn't organized or fast. But Nintendo took both their teams and put them in one building. They unified their teams so that their game development goes smoother. I wouldn't expect the droughts that Wii U and 3DS have next gen. If anything both handheld and console will be able to play the same game but at different settings.

This is true.  Plus they'll have Gamefreak, Intelligent Designs, Retro Studios, Monolith, etc... all working on one platform.

Yup. I'm fully expecting a console version of Pokemon and all those neat games the 3DS got that Wii U didn't will be a issue of the past. We should be seeing the mainline FE games on the console and not just the handheld. Plus since they won't have to double dip like they did with 3D land and 3D World, and MK7 and 8, Smash etc. they should have much less wasted projects than they did before. They could even afford to take risks like they did with Splatoon. They just gotta make sure that Cross Platform play is a priority. Then it will be a true Nintendo Nirvana.

They need to make it AS powerful as PS5. If they don't, and they don't use a standard controller, goodbye third parties again.
