Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Would PS4 like performance be enough for Nintendo NX?

Some people are thinking that the next Nintendo NX console will have the performance of 8 gen consoles, like the PS4.

The thing is, NX will be out most probably in 2017, and it will be the first 9th gen console. Would it be enough for the NX to have PS4 performance when two or Three years after the NX we most probably have PS5 or XBOX TWO on the market and they will be much faster than PS4.

I mean, wouldt be wiser for nintendo to lauch a NX more powerfull than a 2013 console like PS4 if it lauches 3 or 4 years after it?

No, it has to have the power AND a similar architecture. Both of those need to happen.

Thanks jlmurph!

That would be more than enough.

The bigger the power, the bigger the cost.

My guess is that Nintendo will introduce a somewhat more powerful console than the PS4 with hardware that doesn't bleed Nintendo money and keeps cost low, all this while making a bet for a new input device (or Wiimote 2).

The question here is with the rush of getting NX out, what is Nintendo betting for when releasing another console? What is going to make the difference? Will it be power and ease of development to make third party ports more attractive? Or are they confident with some new approach to gaming that they think can attract casuals as the Wii did?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

It needs to be much stronger, unless they're thinking about only keeping it around for three years !

Itll probs be more powerful

They'd probably need horse power if they plan on the NX lasting a long time next gen.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

It depends. If Nintendo advertise NX as 8th gen (probably not gonna happen) yes they should. But if they advertise it as 9th gen the answer is no.

A handheld gamer only (for now).

I believe it, I mean like, I 100% believe this.

NX will also fail, and Nintendo will be done with consoles.

It either needs to be just as powerful as the PS4 and cheaper to produce if it's going to come out in 2016, or VERY cheap to produce and be just as powerful as the Wii U if it's going to come out in 2017. AKA Nintendo needs a BIG head start if they want to compete with the other 2 or need to get non-gimmickaly creative and figure out how to make an "exclusives" machine like the Wii U is super accessible to consumers and make it appealing enough for people to want to get it. AKA, AGAIN, Nintendo needs to come back to the big leagues or populiraze the concept of having a second console.

I'm now filled with determination.
