No it's not. Reggie confirmed just 2 days ago its a home console not a handheld.

When did he say that?  I thought he just reconfirmed that they were working on a next gen home console.

Exactly, youngster these days have serious problems of understanding & interpretation...

Alright, fair enough. You got me Spem x ) I suppose Holiday 2016 wouldn't be so bad, as long as they're prepared for it. I just wonder if Nintendo fans would be okay with them releasing the NX somewhat earlier than usual releases...

I'm sure they'll be fine. They were fine with the GBA. XB fans were fine with the OG XB. 4 years is plenty of time. Plus, they'll gain way more fans in the transition than the 2% that they'll lose. Lose 2% of Nintendo fans, gain a huge percentage of gaming fans.

Yeah, I hope you are right... : (

November 2016

WOW!Before posting my first comment,2016 and 2017 options were completely neck to neck, after that, 2017 has a quite big lead!
Did I influence the voters after providing my good pattern which implies late November 2017 to be the release date? lol:P:P:P:P:P I'm kidding!

that's true, however in the case of Saturn and Dreamcast it was a death sentence lol.

Saturn released 6 years after Genesis, so that just leaves Dreamcast which had a record launch then later died because Sega ran out of money to support it, it didn't fail because it launched 4 years after Saturn.

I will give you Saturn, by you cannot just sweep aside that people were pissed at Sega for releasing products and then killing them off in too short of a time where it be 6 months for 32X, 2 years for the CD, or 3-4 years for the Saturn. That was a factor in Deamcast failure, if you even call it that.

It will be out next year (2016). Video game fans think the world revolves around them, but it doesn't.

Nintendo has sales projections, dividend payments that they have to make to stockholders, profit projections they need to reach ... and quite frankly the 3DS and Wii U make it basically impossible for them to reach any of their financial goals.

3DS sales are declining and reaching the lowest handheld sales Nintendo has had since prior to the release of Pokmeon in 1996. These are 20 year lows in handheld shipments, which also means low software shipments to go with it.

Wii U sales are just consistently terrible and they've already spent basically all their major IP on it.

The transition to NX won't be a big deal for them because IMO it likely won't be a big hardware upgrade anyway. The main thing will be that it'll be a mobile-centric platform, which can either also play games on the TV at home or has a companion "TV mini-console" product (ala Vita + Vita TV) that lets you play games on the TV at home.

And that's pretty much it. IMO they're already hoarding games for the NX and have for a long time, so they'll be able to launch with a new 3D Mario, a NX version of Zelda, and the "real" Animal Crossing early on in the life cycle. So I don't see that being an issue either. I think Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 9 are also both well into development for NX also.

By next E3 they will be able to show a ton of playable titles. The main EAD Tokyo Mario team has been quiet for several years. The main Animal Crossing team has been quiet for several years. Mario Kart 8 team has been largely free for over a year now.

Why did Dreamcast have a record launch if their fans were so pissed?

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Imo this will be NES's final console. After this one flops (If they continue down the path of crap hardware, not many new IP's, taking forever to release a new Metroid/Zelda, No 3rd party support etc) They will be a Handheld only company by 2020 while leasing their 1st party games to PlayStation's console if they do not get it together. I'm 36 & grew up loving NES! NES-GC was amazing! Then Wii & Wii-U meh! Please tighten up Nintendo because you'll always have a special place in my heart & I want you to succeed!

The Dreamcast was pretty much the console that Sega needed at the time. Fans were pissed, but the Dreamcast helped to fix the situation. Sony's reputation in the industry and the PS2 ended the Dreamcast.
