Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Am I the only one who wants Zelda Wii U to release on NX?

Nintendo has had a hard enough time developing games on 7th gen level hardware.  A more powerful piece of tech won't really make a big difference in terms of Nintendo's own development. Nintendo still hasn't pushed the Wii U to its limits. Not one Wii U game looks better than the best looking PS3/360 games.

^ This, what they really need to do is get this game out which will push console sales... I think they pretty much killed whatever hype they could have gotten to move consoles this year for the most part. Get the game out, make some sales, use that money to acquire new studios (what they were supposedly doing two years ago).

I see that most Nintendo fans have said things along the line of "if Nintendo releases Zelda Wii U on NX it will be a major betrayal of my trust." I understand the frustration of buying a console expecting a game only to have that game release on another console, but I can't help but think that it would be better if Zelda Wii U did release on NX. I just think that Nintendo could make the game better if they made it for NX (assuming NX has significantly higher graphical capacity than Wii U). Also, since I'm a huge Nintendo fan I know I'll be buying NX anyway, so I figure it might as well have the best Zelda experience ever (hopefully). I don't know, what do you guys think. Would it really be so awful if the new Zelda released on NX?

Note: the same point stands if it's cross-gen, as the NX version would likely be superior.

don't know if it will happen. it would surely be called Zelda NX not a Zelda Wii U game for sure if it is for NX.

It will always be Zelda U, the game that never came to be .

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Gamecube had Wind Waker and 4 Swords.

Wind Waker is avalaible on Wii U and 4 Swords Adventures is avalaible on NDS.

Lol. Oh Dr. Vita, can't argue with this logic.

The funny part is though, that the second part isn't even true.

It would be bad because many people bought a Wii U with the understanding that it would be getting an amazing HD Zelda game.  Nintendo has shown far too much of Zelda U at this point to move it to NX.  It would be dishonest, disloyal and if NX turns out not to be a stellar hit with the casuals then moving Zelda could be a nail in the coffin for Nintendo since they will have lost the trust of a huge segment of their fanbase (the same fans that are currently driving Splatoon and Amiibo sales and keeping Nintendo somewhat profitable during these really dark times).

It would essentially be the Nintendo equivalent of Sega discontinuing the Saturn and rushing something new to the market.

Hoping the NX turns out to be a powerful handheld, it's best for Nintendo.

A nintendo developer said that if they started making a metroid game now, it wouldn't come in time for the wii u, but it would for the NX. That implies that NX is at the very least a console. Unless they are doing the fusion concept, I wouldn't keep my hopes up for it being a handheld

Although he did specify "NX console", so it doesn't rule that there is also a "NX handheld".

I respect that Wii U owners bought the console 100% expecting a new Zelda, so fully moving to NX would be a horrible move for Ninty and pointless for the game seeing as much of the game assets were built with Wii U in mind. I would however like to see it be cross gen. Regardless of whether the NX home console comes 2016 or 2017, I'd like to see it ported over and with improved graphics.

Honestly Zelda arriving so late means its not going to be a massive system seller, meaning many people will simply skip it unless its port it to a relevant system.

I bought WiiU at launch for 1 game and tbh the rest of the lineup has been a huge fucking disappointment.
So yeah if the one game I bought it for doesn't end up exclusively on the WiiU I would be pretty damn pissed.

I want Nintendo to come out guns blazing with that device. I want there to be so many games on it that, after the 1st year of it being on the market, I have at least 2 years of backlog to play through. I do not want 1 game for every 3 months on average, and I want (at least) 3rd party exclusives

That can happen. Nintendo needs to properly setup up build times for these games. Like as soon as Zelda Wii U is done. Next game is being built. No first year drought. The scripting process for the next game should already be underway by now. To allow a launch Zelda. Or first year Zelda.

As for the OP. No, It should only be avaible on Wii U. I will not buy the next system after being pissed off like that. Nor do I want it delayed any further like Twilight Princess was.

Man. Was the NX announced in the background somewhere?
Yes, you are the only one. Besides emotional and personal reasons, if Zelda U is ported to the NX, it would need to start over development of the game, meaning another delay, meaning tons of cash burned and tons of fans pissed.

Like Twilight Princess? A game ready to be launched on November 2005 but delayed a full year to launch on Wii?

Similar case, but the Wii and GameCube had near indentical specs. Only big difference were the controls.

On the other hand (and hopefully it better be that way), Wii U and NX should have a very big power gap and diferent architecture.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

oh it is ;)

I want it to be on NX as they could do things better besides the fact that it would help the console a lot!

Zelda U is build with the gamepad in mind porting it to the NX would actually be a downgrade to the overall gameplay experience and they dont lose anything keeping it on Wii U except graphics,resolution.. If you think they would re build it in some way for the NX your are wrong since the game is already in deep development.

they don't really have to do much to fix the map stuff which was mostly what we saw the game use it for. Now I'm sure they have done deeper stuff than just using it to display a map but since we don't know what that is people wouldn't have much to complain about if it was to be changed. Besides we don't really know how the NX will play games.
