Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony still not pursuing backwards compatible for PS4.

Emulating the cell with PS4 hardware is nearly impossible. The 360 design is much simpler and easier to emulate.

It only works for MS, cause they can increase transference from 360 to One, BC doesn't make any money at all.

What if they... I dunno... sold 360 games on the X1 market place?

Kinda like how Sony sells PS1 and PS2 games in the PS Store.

touche, I was assuming we were only talking about playing 360 discs on Xb1s not playing 360 games.

I don't see why BC is a big deal but that's just me. Its not really a feature that many take advantage of when it's there but yet people complain when it's not there. And the feature is nearly 2 years late. Should have been on the X1 when it launched.

I wish there was some way to see who uses the feature and who doesn't.  I mean, I see people say it's not an important feature and to many, it isn't.  I always appreciate it, though.  I used the hell out of it on every console that offered it last gen and this gen.  Plus, with XBO players being able to play online with Xbox 360 players, the feature should be more useful now, than ever.  Since my 80GB PS3 broke, I would buy a new PS3 in a heartbeat if I could access my PS2 games, again.

Why not buy a PS2 instead? It's quite common now.

And besides, you already got another ps3 slim anyway.

PS2 looked like poop on an HDTV.  PS3 upscaled it.  And I always prefer BC if it's an option.  The slim PS3 I have doesn't read PS2 discs at all.  My broken 80gb did.

My daughter used to always get me to fire up old games.  I could probably dig up posts where I mentioned she had me play Indigo Prophecy or Silent Hill 3 right up until the very end.  Hell,  I had to replay RE and RE0 (Gamecube) using the Wii just because she found my Gamecube stash.  I posted that I shot a zombie, it exploded and it was game over but I didn't save.  My love for BC isn't something I just made up.

A shame, but it is what it is. I love backwards compatibility and don't really care if a lot of people do not use it. I use it and it's probably one of the most important features to me to be able to play my older games on a new console. I'm not interested in keeping so many electronics.

I dunno man, everything you say goes in one of my ears and out the other. BC is not a game changer, lets just accept it. It doesn't matter how it was deemed not possible when the console launched and somehow they pulled out a way to emulate a virtual 360. It's nothing to brag about really. You won't have fun with those old games anyways. But you know what is awesome? PS Now.. you can play old games through the internet. So many awesome old games that you can play again. Who doesn't like playing older games that they grew up to playing?

Yeah, especially considering that you can play them with added delay and worse image quality!

Just like BC vs Remasters, how interesting.

Anyway, Sony might just be talking about PS3 games, after the dreams that came true at E3 the rumour of PS1+PS2 bc that popped up last year doesn't seem that far fetched, and that's all I need.

One thing's for sure. XB1 owners sure could use PlayGO... maybe they should have asked that first to improve the new game experience instead of prioritizing old games..

On a side note, the few friends I know with a X1 celebrated the announcement, and sent me pics of ME1 (the only game they could get to work) on the X1, all happy. After that? They haven't touched it again, went back to the same games they were playing before. So much for that.

How does a remaster have a worse/better input delay? Ok, if we count the SF4-port to PS4 but that's an exception to the rule. And how does a remaster make the image worse of a game?

No, i'm saying the opposite. Games running in BC are worse than remasters. So if BC is better than PSNow because PSnow has a lower quality experience than remasters are better than BC because BC is a lower quality experience.
