Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is the Wii U the worst console of all time?(OP clarification)

even as a dedicated nintendo fan i have to say it- Nintendo is not going anywhere with the Wii U. i mean, E3 this year was horrible for nintendo. we got no good announcements for the Wii U at all, it was mostly 3DS based, and there was little to really get hyped about.

i do enjoy the Wii U console though. it has become one of my favorites and me and my friends have a blast every time we turn it on. its not a bad console, it just didnt have the right hardware that people wanted and thus lost before it even got a chance.

we dont really know when the Nintendo NX will release, im hoping soon though. but i have to say, if the Wii U is holding nintendo back from creating better games, then it should die already.

remember, the Wii U will die, but Nintendo will keep getting better

How can you put 'Worst Console of ALL TIME' in a title, then not talk about all consoles in all of time? It makes no sense. And you can't say that other companies were not serious. Atari was a founder of gaming but don't want to include the Jaguar? Are you serious?

I heard the Jaguar was a pretty advance system... Truly ahead of its time.

lol the worst part is that they used 2 32 bit processors and called it 64 bit. There was a major difference between the Jaguar and the N64.

I'd say the worst part was the uncovered cartridge port. That CD attachment was also pretty bad. Jaguar also has a horrible controller to seal the deal.

Current gaming platforms - Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, New 3DS, PC

When it comes to this gen, probably.
All time? No.

But we're not allowed to discuss it. Atari isn't a serious company. Therefore the Jaguar does not exist.

In the mid-90s, the 3DO was the great white hope. It was an all-in-one "multimedia" system. It had the backing of Matsushita (Panasonic) and Goldstar (LG). Its primary software backer was Electronic Arts. 3DO was ran by the guy who founded EA, Trip Hawkins. I'd say those companies were pretty serious even if the console itself bombed.

Sony could have easily gone the same way as these other electronics giants except that they actually made sure to get some good developers behind the PS1.

And even that might not have helped them any, had Nintendo only made the N64 a CD-ROM based system and held onto Squaresoft and Enix.

no the wii u is a great console that has been poorly executed and marketed. You basically need to try it to understand it. Unfortunately Nintendo hasn't really made much use of the gamepad themselves after the launch.

Worst Nintendo home console? Yes, but PS3 still retains its title as the worst console I've ever owned.

Console price really killed the 3DO. Otherwise it did FMV like a champ. Need for Speed was excellent on it. And it did have multimedia functions and even was the home for dirty games if memory serves. It really tried to be the biggest and best. It was just ridiculously overpriced.

GameCube first party is overrated.

Mario 3D World >>> Sunshine.

Like seriously take off the nostalgia glasses with Sunshine, it's a terrible Mario game with bloated level design all set on a tropical island (who the hell thought a Mario game with all tropical themed levels was a good idea?), that had camera glitches and bugs up the wazoo and the back end of the game was piss poor.

Splatoon >>> Pikmin

These were the so-called "new IP" of the GameCube ... I'm sorry, Splatoon is way better. It's a far better game and truly the next great Nintendo IP. Not only that but Wii U has Pikmin 3 as well.

Mario Kart 8 >>> Mario Kart: Double Dash

Double Dash had a pathetic number of tracks, MK8 has far more content.

Smash U = Smash Melee

Smash Melee was the one big IP Nintendo got right on the GCN, but Smash U matches it IMO.

DKC: Tropical Freeze > DK: Jungle Beat

EAD Tokyo made a good effort here, but a "real" DKC game with actual controls the return of David Wise trumps a spin-off DK game with bongo controls.

If Zelda U is better than Wind Waker, then the Wii U has the GameCube beat in many major Nintendo IP.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with most of these comparisons.

Graphics and gameplay wise, sunshine had more than mario 3d world. Sunshine incorporated puzzles, exploration, and platforming into one. 3d World just had platforming.

Pikmin was also way more content filled than splatoon was, and seems to have done its own unique thing in the puzzle genre. Splatoon is pretty much call off duty with cute graphics and paint. But regardless, they were 2 different genres so comparing them is just laughable.

Mario kart double dash even now holds tight controls and wait for it ........ double characters in a kart. Mario kart 8 literally did not do that because of the wii u hardware. Also, just try to compare the local multiplayer and just laugh at Mario kart 8's measly coin racing.

smash U may match melee with the casual audience and content for its time, but there is no denying that melee is what gives big life to the competitive smash bros community.

Zelda U may not even be exclusively on the wii u. And even if it was, the gamecube had 2 legend of zeldas (twilight princess and wind waker)

The wii u has good games, but there is no  denying that they have been severly limited by hardware and rushes to release early whereas the gamecube offered amazing visuals for its time and was plagued by an image problem, not a continuous drought of games problem.
