Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is the Wii U the worst console of all time?(OP clarification)

The vita

The Vita has a few decent games on it, and I've enjoyed the Vita TV. But yeah, I would rate the Wii U higher than the Vita. The only thing the Vita has going for it in the future are Xseed's localizations of Nihon Falcom's RPGs, and you can choose to get those on PS3 (or PC in some cases).

From the ones I have played:

1. Wii = N64
3. Nintendo GameCube

4. Wii U

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Hell no, Wii U is a great console. I'd go as far as to say its better than the GameCube and Wii.

bet: lost

GameCube is seriously overrated. Wii U already has a library pretty close to the GCN's.

Mario Sunshine was a major dissapointment, didn't even feel like a Mario game. How the hell do you make a Mario game with only tropical levels and think that's a good idea?

Wind Waker was rushed and Mario Kart Double Dash was somewhat underwhelming too. GameCube screwed up on most of the major Nintendo IP.

I think Wii U will pull even with the GameCube by generation's end.

No it doesn't have Resident Evil or Metroid or Animal Crossing ...

BUT it has Splatoon, Bayonetta 1/2, Xenoblade, and Mario Maker + NSMB (2D Mario) ... something the GameCube didn't have.

Mario 3D World, Smash U, DKC: TF, Mario Kart 8 are also equal or better than their equivalents on the GameCube.

If Zelda U is better than Wind Waker, IMO that tips the scales in favor of the Wii U.

Soundwave, I find myself concerned that I'm agreeing with you so much lately.

3D World, Mario Kart 8, Smash Wii U, Pikmin 3, DKC: TF, Xenoblade, Splatoon, Bayonetta 2, Mario Party 10, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, The Wonderful 101, New Super Mario Bros U, Nintendo Land, Hyrule Warriors and more.

Too many good games to be worst console of all time.

Splatoon >>> Pikmin

Seriously though... I don't think so. Why is Splatoon better than the first Pikmin, anyway? Both games are entirely different, one is a shooter and the other is an RTS. But if we go that deep, we'll find out that Pikmin showcased the GameCube's power, making up for a concept that couldn't have been possible on Nintendo 64. Also, supposedly, Pikmin launched as a complete product, Splatoon doesn't have that reputation. But again, both games are tremendously different, so it hurts to make the commented comparisons.

As for the rest, I agree, and that's why I think Wii U is kinda better than GameCube. At least every game Nintendo has launched has been of all my liking, that didn't happen on the Wii.

But even then, nor the GameCube or the Wii U are so mediocre like the Jaguar, CD-i and other consoles were; and if these machines don't count, then I don't know what I'm missing out here.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

you mean the jaguar is better?

GameCube first party is overrated.

Mario 3D World >>> Sunshine.

Like seriously take off the nostalgia glasses with Sunshine, it's a terrible Mario game with bloated level design all set on a tropical island (who the hell thought a Mario game with all tropical themed levels was a good idea?), that had camera glitches and bugs up the wazoo and the back end of the game was piss poor.

Splatoon >>> Pikmin

These were the so-called "new IP" of the GameCube ... I'm sorry, Splatoon is way better. It's a far better game and truly the next great Nintendo IP. Not only that but Wii U has Pikmin 3 as well.

Mario Kart 8 >>> Mario Kart: Double Dash

Double Dash had a pathetic number of tracks, MK8 has far more content.

Smash U = Smash Melee

Smash Melee was the one big IP Nintendo got right on the GCN, but Smash U matches it IMO.

DKC: Tropical Freeze > DK: Jungle Beat

EAD Tokyo made a good effort here, but a "real" DKC game with actual controls the return of David Wise trumps a spin-off DK game with bongo controls.

If Zelda U is better than Wind Waker, then the Wii U has the GameCube beat in many major Nintendo IP.

What about innovation? Look what Sony did with  last gen  with the "Last of Us" a whole new IP. For me having Melee for the Gamecube libray(which only had a previous iteration) has more weight than releasing smash 4 for the Wii U. Us gamers are already familiar with Smash and therefore, at this point it feels stale.     Mario Sunshine feels more like a 3D Mario game akin to Mario 64, in contrast, Mario 3D land plays like  a side scroller in the vein of the DS's mario's. That's why I think that Mario sunshine feels like a 'proper' entry in the franchise in the vein of Galaxy. Overall, the Gamecube first party is not overrated but for its time it felt fresher in comparison. Also how can you say Mario Kart 8 is better than double dash if according to metacritic there is only a 0.1 point difference.
