Have you played the first 2? I would reccomend going back and playing the first 1 or 2 before you pick the 4th one up. If you like those then yes I would reccomend it.

I haven't played any of them but from what I gathered the first two have the better character. The third one introduces a main character and doesn't do as good as the first two(gameplay wise). The fourth one has the new character but does a better job than 3(gameplay).

As a die hard DMC fan, I have to step in and say that you are DEAD wrong. DMC 2 IS by FAR the worst DMC game out of the four, not 3. I (and alot of die hard DMC fans) consider 3:SE the best of the series, it has the deepest gameplay but is the most difficult. DMC2 was far too easy, there's also too many ways to break the game and cheeze the bosses to death. In DMC2 they tried to impletment stupid wall running, crazy acrobatics, trick shot gunplay and add an irrelevant new character... all of which distracted from the great core gameplay that was in DMC1.

@sc94597: Ok, Listen to me, DMC1 and DMC3:SE are the best DMC games. Play those two first (in order) and skip DMC2 completely. I've been a hardcore DMC fan since ever since I beat DMC1 and i can tell you one thing, if anyone recommends DMC2, they probably have never played the series. DMC2 is pure crap, and is even worse when compared to 1 or 3. The only problem with DMC3 is that it may be too hard for most DMC novices, but it has the deepest battle system, I also thinhk it's stupid that some reviewers bring the score down b/c they suck at the game. DMC3 was hard (at first) but certainly not impossible.

If you don't want to take my word for it, take IGN's. Their reviews on the DMC series are pretty much what most DMC fans would agree with. The reason why metacritic's review for DMC3 8.5 is because the bottom 5 (hardly credible) reviews like Stuff magazine, GameShark and computer games magazine (they gave it a 3./10) gave DMC3 horrible unfair reviews b/c it was "too difficult" for them. What a bunch of noobs.

I go by the content of the review rather than the score.

Please stop filling my thread with off topic discussion, it was to hear peoples thoughts about PS3 DMC4 reaching 1 million before the 360 version when most presume the 360 version of a game will always sell much better. and possibly the future of 360/PS3 multi platform titles.

If you'd like you can create a "Should I get DMC4" thread, you're good at that kind of thing.

Congratz PS3 with the one million selling game Devil May Cry 4 in only 4 weeks.
The Wii is like $250 US. For the cost of 2 games that are $60 US each a pop.  You should buy a PS3 console instead at $400 US. Now that is a great deal.

Very good news; most Capcom games deserve as much. Devil May Cry 4, although not AAA game, it's surely one impressive game. Next up ... We love Golf!

 I stuffed that up, lol. I meant to state for the the cost of a Wii console and 2 new Wii games, you can buy a 40 GB PS3 console. Deal of the century

Capcom made the right choice with going multiplat. If the game stayed exclusive they may have sold incrementally better, but I doubt it would be almost double the number it has on the PS3 right now.
