So after watching the Digital Event, I was pretty disappointed nothing huge or bomb dropper was annouced. Everything i knew was being released was shown and only new ones I think were Mario Tennis and Animal Crossing was new. Of coarse like others I thought it's WiiU's Swan song and here comes NX and got down. Now that I sat back and thought about it 7 hours later, i think it isnt. Let me explain.

Here Is one thing we know that will be release next year for the Wii U, Zelda. Remember that game awards show where Miyamoto basically challenged Aonuma if it will be ready this year. Then Aonuma replied yes will be done before Star Fox. So there is one game. Plus the last 3 or 4 Directs Nintendo has been annoucing new games coming and localizations of others. So I can highly see a new Direct in a few weeks annoucing something big.

Another thing just like Disney will celebrate Mickey Mouse or Disneyland s anniversary why can't Nintendo do the same. 30 years for gaming character being relivant is nothing to bat an eye. Why can't Nintendo celebrate that with Super Mario Maker with the heavy sale?

Now to the games we have to look foward too in immediate future we now have real release dates on all but Star Fox last time I checked that is a pretty big lineup from September on to the end of the year, to just say its over.

The problem isn't Nintendo the problem is us needing information all day everyday now with these damn social networks. If we do not see something we like, we jump on it instead of looking at what we do like. We jump all over the negative these days and it sucks. I was one of them today for about an hour but then I said Nintendo's lineup from here until the of 2015 is probably the best out of the three and that I say LETS PLAY SOME GAMES AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARIO!!!

The problem is simply, Nintendo aren't happy with the performance of the WiiU and are now focusing on NX, thus the WiiU is taking the back seat.

I know that isn't what you or other nintendo fans want to hear, but it's what many have come to realize after watching the direct.

Actually I disagree you see it here and any other social site people Hate or Troll that's it. Even with Microsoft or Sony people just write hate pieces on video games or the industry reason why people do not take the industry seriously. Someone will have something positive to say and as quickly it's posted someone will hate on it.

Look at the May NPD thread nice showing for Splatoon and because it wasn't 500,000 first day people just pounce and say negative things

NX wasn't even shown, we don't even know what it is. I think there are a lot of overreactions because of this horrible e3  presentation.

I don't even care for NX at the moment, and focusing on it now is a mistake in my opinion. They will drive a lot of hardcore fans away by focusing on nx right now.

I agree, and I don't fault them, if the really try to make sure Wii U mess doesn't repeat.

I think shifting gears towards a new console with WiiU this early is worthy of criticism, specially by Nintendo fans who bought the thing and now have support for it abruptly cut off. I guess there can be fans already pleased with what they have got for the system by now though, why not?

But of course, everyone has to hold their horses until the next console is announced, then we can say for certain if Nintendo aborted the WiiU way too early.

There is a fact though, with an almost null support from third party developers it makes Nintendo holder of the big responsibility of releasing games for their platforms, so they have to spread out their games.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Yep, i mean i was still hoping Nintendo can somehow change it around for the Wii U, but after seeing this, i think they are ready to move on, and i think we should too. In the bright side for the NX next year, i can catch up to other Wii U games and save money for the nx

it doesnt need to be shown, they made a big point about proving how the company is changing, the fact that they mentioned NX at all is telling, if they were completely focused on the wiiu and 3ds, and they have nothing to show with nx, why would they mention it?

None of this really changes my statement, i have a hard time believing Nintendo isn't gearing up to replace the WiiU when the last SDK update they shipped for the console was in november of 2014 and the once active bug tracking system has all but dried up with api issue notices left unanswered.

It's clear to me at this point that theyre minimizing investment in to the WiiU, wrapping up remaining projects and setting the stage for replacement.

Chalking the general opinion down to just trolls or haters and insisting that the only thing wrong is customers wondering where the games are, is counterproductive. as things currently are i would predict that a replacenent is on store shelves by holiday 2017, potentially holiday 2016, which would put the wiiu's shelf life ar 4-5 years respectively, putting it a year behind the GC and 2 behind the n64, which EOL numbers round to 22m and 33m.

Nintendo are changing broadening their business aspirations, the WiiU no longer fits their gameplan.

So they're somewhat fucked either way?

Support a crippled console with no room for growth in turn ruining their finances or prepare for the future and risk fucking their loyalist hard.

GJ Nintendo. I hope they take the latter option and hope people bite, the former is a scenario destined for doom.
