If it had BC from the beginning I probably would have bought a One instead of a PS4...because I could have played all my 360 games on the One.

I think he is talking about when/if developers choose to re-release their games digitally.  PS3 had true PS1 emulation, all discs were compatible day one. No authorization was needed because it was true emulation.

Ok, so this is a totally different situation as this is not about re-releasing anything.

Btw, what exactly is "true" emulation?

The hardware is fully emulated via hardware or software. The source code requires no modification, therforth you don't need permission on a per title basis.

These are basically quick ports, the source code has changed. That is why disc games have to be downloaded (the original code doesn't work) and permission to change/alter the code is required on a case by case bases. It's a great solution, as the Xbox One isn't powerful enough to do true emulation.

Nope, it's full emulation as Spencer said in an interview.

No source code change, no porting.

Then why do we have to download it?  Why can't we just run it off the disc? Why is the file size different than the original?

Also why doesn't DLC work right now?  If it was full emulation I wouldn't have these questions....

Sorry, on mobile now so no detailed talk. I posted the video in the other bc thread.

You can't just say “oh, download? Well, then it's porting and no bc“, this doesn't compute. It's ok to have questions but basing an argument on an unanswered question because you can't see anything else as a reason is not really convincing. Tachi also has a theory why you have to download and it also doesn't have anything to do with porting or it not being emulation.

Sorry but if the data is the same, it shouldn't matter if it's from a disc or downloaded. True emulation would reconize both.

Its symbolic: They are listening to fan feedback and acting on it. 2013 MS is long dead.

Also, it is practical, I can put my 360 away since my games will carry over. I can even trade it in knowing it will give a discount and I wont lose my games. And with me installing them on Xbox One and taking up space.....I will have to buy a external hard drive. If MS releases an official one later this year, that is more money for them.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

You didn't even read or listen to what others already said about it, right?

To the xbone, the emulator is an xbone app. Like their games, like their apps. Fun fact: no xbone app runs from disc, not a single app or game. Now we could argue why but that's the way it is. Even ps4 is doing the same.

Another benefit of downloading the whole game is that MS can deliver you the game with the latest patch already applied, making the emulation a lot more controllable for them.

I did. You should still have the option to download the content off the disc.

Also DLC is not working, file sizes are different, USB devices aren't working properly.

If the source code wasn't alterred, they wouldn't need permission. A lot of games will never see the light of day because of this. Developers that no longer have music rights, can't have an alterred version that will work on this.

All of these things make it look like this isn't true emulation. The last hurdle wouldn't even be neccessary if it was.

Ok, there is no use to discuss it further, let's leave this now. Nothing in this world will convince you you are wrong and that's ok. You still think these will be ports although it was said otherwise, officially and from people with technical knowledge.

But either way, who cares in the end if the solution is as good as first experiences from the preview apply to the way bigger list arriving later this year.
