Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is MS' Heart Just Not Into It This Gen?

Like I can understand getting "beat" by Sony. It happens, they had a good start. OK.

But how as Microsoft do you allow things like virtually every major *Western* IP to debut/have exclusive content on the PS4 or premiere on the Sony stage?

I mean OK, Batman, I can see. Assassin's Creed ok. Hitman alright. But Star Wars Battlefront too? Bungie's Destiny again? Call of Duty? Again ... Call ... Of ... Duty, a game that's been associated with the XBox brand for almost 10 years.

MS is a much bigger corporation than Sony with much deeper pockets, what gives with this? I get the feeling they're just not that into this console business thing, don't get me wrong, they like it and they want to win, but really they're not going to break their backs trying to compete it seems.

This is a hobby for MS who has bigger fish to fry elsewhere, that's just the feeling I get and now with Steve Ballmer long gone from MS (really the cheif guy who pushed for MS to make hardware), if MS really considered XBox a big priority I'd have to think they'd be trying harder than this.

I'm starting to wonder if there is going to be another XBox console if they get routed this generation.

The real question is why should they? Has it helped them? I'm almost positive that the PS4 version of every game Microsoft has had some sort of exclusive deal with has outsold the XBO version. If Sony wants to throw money away on getting exclusive rights to games, let them.

Call of Duty has been selling more on PS platform since BOII. It makes no sense for it to be with MS anymore.

Microsoft did get Fallout 4 though. PS4 version will still probably outsell the XBO version.

Current gaming platforms - Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, New 3DS, PC

It did help them during the PS3/360 race, why wouldn't you want your console associated as the "lead brand" for games like COD, Star Wars Battlefront, etc.?

It's not like MS is hurting for money.

Maybe MS would rather spend money on better things than COD.
Hence Fallout 4

I really think there was some massive budget cuts at Xbox this year. Microsoft was the king of 3rd party deals last gen, they wouldn't give it up to Sony willingly.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Well they still hav TR^^

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Their new CEO Nadella is all about not throwing money out the window (aka at expensive Xbox endeavors) and wants to invest M$ money into more promising divisions.

I dont see xbox remaining very high up on the totem pole for M$

Its the install base difference kicking in. It just is going to cost MS a lot more to do these deals than it would Sony.

Game after game that MS has had marketing for has sold much better on the PS4 (Witcher, DA:I) why would a company want to primary market a game to an audience that not only is smaller but has less interest in their product.

psn- tokila

add me, the more the merrier.

You can't argue that the CoD deals has sold plenty of Xboxes til now, regardless of which platforms the game sells the most on.

the deals and price cuts also surely cut into that budget.

and we also cant forget that since the market ratios are different from last gen, it would be naturally more expensive then last gen per title
