The main reason it will sell much more everywhere I think is that it was designed with components that will quickly and continuously come down in price. We will probably never see a new $150 PS3 at retail. PS4 however will probably be $99 some day and it won't take 10 years to do it either.

I don't think that will happen. It would need to sell another 8.5m+, and the Japanese don't care that much about remakes.

The home console market is just smaller, it's not the fault of the PS4 or handhelds but simply the culture of Japan.
