for all the people who did not read the kickstarter it says this on it.

"If Shenmue 3 was going to get made, I wanted to make it with the fans. Through Kickstarter, I knew that could happen. Together, with Shenmue fans everywhere, I knew we could build the game that the series deserves."

there is the answer to why Sony is not funding it , but they did want to do there do diligence so they shouted it out in e3 the least they could do.I do think they may of paid extra to keep it off xbox but who knows.

No, it will be funded by the publishers who own the IP.  Shemue 2 was 70 million to make.  This KickStarter is just to prove to Sega that they need to invest in this project.  It shows that people want it. 

ummm this just rubs me the wrong way. Sony obviously has some kind of deal with Yu and they still went to kickstarter to fund their game. Kind of looks like they're taking advantage of the diehard Shenmue fanbase.

Anyways I'm glad this is being made, kind of sick of people just ranting about Shenmue ending with a cliffhanger lol.

they are funding it.. that is if they have enough fans .. it's not like you arn't getting anything to fund it.. Weather you buy the game from kickstarter or the game from in store your paying for the game for the 60$ one But the thing that pissing me and alot of people off is no disc ps4 version? Maby it will be released in stores and sony will make there money back off that release.. Idk makes sense thats why idk if I will even back it ... the other more money ones are just like special editions.. that shirt tho I wanted it..

Exactly but Sega still owns the first two games so I doubt they will show up.

This situation is going to need more transparency
I have a hard time believing Sony thought there was even a 0.01% chance that a KS for Shenmue 3 wouldn't even reach 2M. If there's a deal it's gotta be something else, not a "KS to see if there's a market for it".

I believe that $2m is not enough to make the project look even barely decent. Like you said, the kickstarter is all about gauging the demand. For this to be announced for PS4 and PC only, Sony most likely has a part and they are funding this.
