So what should the price be then if $4 is ridiculous?

Max 1€/Character. You get 55 characters for 50 bucks. Each of these characters cost nintendo the same to make and smash bros is still pretty sucsessfull.

+ You got the damn full game for that price.

So selling new characters at 4x the prices as you got them in the original game thats nothing then a rip off. Nintendo just quadrupled their profit. Profit that wasnt low anyway on this game.

How dare you use maths in a gaming forum.

Nintendo's profit goes up by way over 4x at 4€ btw. At 1€/Character only a % of that euro is profit. At 4€/Character those extra 3€ are 100% profit.

For Ryu, maybe, most likely.
For roy and lucas, two characters from past games who share similar movesets with others already in the game. Definitely overpriced.
Ryus price is kind of offset by the fact he wouldve taken more time to make and is at least new.

Similar movesets does not mean they can just copy/paste the frame data, sweet spots, sour spots, grabs, combos, weights/slidiness, etc.,from Ness or Marth over and suddenly the character is done. Plus rigging the models alone takes effort, PLUS the Roy model is completely new.

I think Roy was a waste personally, but damn if they didn't make sure he was worth the cost.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Woah there I didn't ask for your arbitrary rules, only the price! I'm sorry but I don't understand at all how you go from a good price to a ridiculously overpriced one within a $3 difference. It's chump change eitherway, especially considering you have to have bought the game at $60/40 and the console for $300/170. And uh yeah, Nintendo's whole purpose is to make money, whether you give it to them or not is up to you, though they're generally more generous and consumer friendly than most. I mean I've gotten 3 full retail games completely for free from em, and have enjoyed Smash as if it were a $120 game, so I guess that's why I find no issue here.

I can't believe this, but Nintendo should learn from Capcom*.

*when it comes to MH4 DLC.

Hell, even if they need additional revenue, those prices are insane.

...There's kind of already a thread about this, lol.

But yeah, I'll admit that these prices are pretty ridiculous. and considering you have to pay around $16 for all 3 characters, I think the fact there's no bundle is a little insane.

Then again, I bought all the character DLC, so I guess I'm insane, lol.

But thats $16 for 2 games?

If you're referring to the fact that I spent that much for both the 3DS and Wii U codes, then yeah, you'd be right.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

1x4€ isnt much. 4x4€ isnt too much. But it we get more and more dlcs (like 16 courses in mk8) we will be very soon at 16x4= 64€. thats alot.

You always need to see what you get for each price. Not look after price alone.

A 20€ sandwich is ridicoulus expensive. a 40€ iphone is very cheap. Even if the price is the double.

Sorry but just turn of brain on low dollars prices is pretty dumb and will bring you on a good way to get bankrupt. Many a little makes a mickle.

You're not thinking from a development standpoint though. Street Fighter characters cost over a million to make PER CHARACTER. Street Fighter is more complex than Smash with its frame data obviously, but the point stands that each character is ridiculously expensive to make because you have to work a LOT to make them fit in without being trash or broken.

Moreover, the value you get per character isn't low enough to justify less than two dollars unless you never plan on using them. I will easily get a couple hours of enjoyment out of one of the three and likely many more hours out of the other two, depending on how I like them. If I get 15 hours of enjoyment out of having all three characters, then I've paid more than enough to justify the price. Considering I've barely had time to try them and I've already spent an hour and a half in one day, I'm sure I will.

Are you implying we have to buy every bit of DLC?

How can you not see what you're buying? Not sure what the point of that sentence was.

Don't care about sandwichs or Iphones, only the Smash DLC.

"Oh gods, I'm gonna go bankrupt because this smash dlc is $3 more expensive than some guy on the internets thinks it should be!" Uhhhhhhh no, lol.
