Several hundread dollars is a lot for a headset. Even Sony is not sure how they can convince people to buy it. But if the device is more than $200, then the casuals will probably not buy it.

You worked for Sony?

How do you know about this?

Okay, can we talk about that demo he played for a minute. One, they got a real FPS to work in VR without making the user vomit. That's very impressive. Two, they seemed to have solved the right stick problem in VR, though they don't really say how. Finally, going off of those screenshots. I think the demo actually looks really good graphically. Good enough to sell as a AAA $60 game.

They might actually pull off the games side of VR.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

If it costs $300 I'm interested. I won't be interested in it if it costs more and if it existing and upcoming PS4 exclusives don't support it.

Even then its a hard sell for me.

I think I'd spend $350 for the headset if it comes with either move controllers or the Camera. But I think $300 is where it needs to be for just the headset.

Yeah exactly. I was initially more interested in Oculus Rift but was put off by that price. Hope Sony doesn't do the same with Project Morpheus.

Because Yoshida said it. It's in the OP.

“We need to convince PS4 owners to spend several hundred dollars to purchase a Morpheus headset"

Several indicates about $300. That will price out the casual market. They will capture the early adopters but they will have to get the price down quick for it to be a success

Oppss didn't notice that. My bad

VR is still new products to the market and of course they need to determine the suitable price.

Hope its $300 or below though

This is gonna be a really though sell... i dont know if sony made the right decision with going all out with vr

Several hundred dollars, eh? Honestly, this will probably be cool for a little bit, like Kinect was... Then fall into a state of obscurity.

I wonder how big of a failure this will be.

Current gaming platforms - Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, New 3DS, PC

So. With the focus on VR, will they be leaving console only gamers in the water. Maybe Xbox will have more good games this generation.
