Forums - Microsoft Discussion - *Opinion* Ok so Xbox One IS the better console.

Guys and girls,

I refused to accept it for the longest time. After I sold my 360 and ended up with an Xbox One, I was convinced (until now) that the Xbox One's predecessor was actually the better machine. After all the 360 was still a modern, connected console with a vastly superior library of games to it's successor.

However I recently borrowed my brother's 360 to see if the magic was still there......

For the most part it wasn't. The 360 now feels slow and clunky by comparison, and the framerates in many games are quite off-putting. I still had a blast after booting up Modern Warfare 2, but most other games simply haven't stood the test of time. After playing the MCC, the Halos should never be played at 30fps. It's like playing them in slow motion. The sub HD visuals I can mostly overlook, but not that framerate.

Gears fared almost as badly. Not the stunner I remember and feels less responsive than I remember. Still a pretty fun romp though.

Also, when you consider that the Xbox One has started getting some brilliant games (Witcher 3 for example) it's hard for me to stand by my old opinion.

So, have any of you felt that your 7th gen console was better, only to blow the dust off and realise that you were looking through rose-tinted glasses?

Next gen is always better for me.

It took a lot of convincing for me to see it that way.

Agreed. There's always a nostalgia factor, but when you actually go back and try those old games, you realize how much more advanced the new consoles are.

Xbone is the better and more powerful technique.
offline and many of the menus/navigation is better on 360 though. i like some one features yet i miss some 360 features.

OG Xbox is still best Xbox

Have the same thing with the PS3 and PS4. Though it varies per game. It's kind of the curse of 3d games, they usually don't stand the test of time.(that's why HD remasters are even made to begin with). Try playing a PS1 game like GT, you will be hard pressed to see what's going on. I played local split screen Diddy Kong Racing a while ago and it was unbarable lol.

I did find it refreshing to throw the disc in and be playing the game in a minute or so. That felt far more 'next gen' to me. The menu on the X1 takes some serious getting used to as well. Other than that, it was the clear winner.

Might want to stick opinion in the title. At this point in its life I have to agree, I'm never going to be able to relive those jaw dropping moments of first playing Halo 3 or Mass Effect and I'll probably never come to close to the fun I had on Modern Warfare and GTA4 MP with mates. But if we take those ^ out then xbox one has been better than 360 for me.

Done.

Yeah I think it was the huge leap from the Gamecube and PS2 that I remember the most. Like you said, it was jaw dropping.

I've always felt this way about PS3/360:

"The 360 now feels slow and clunky by comparison, and the framerates in many games are quite off-putting"

Which is why i started gaming more on PC as last gen went on.

PS4, and I assume XBO dont seem to have that same issues. Sure they are not blowing us away in the graphics department yet (as PS3/360 did), but everything else has been pretty darn good.
