Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Xbox - Oculus Partnership seems like nothing but PR stunt.

Reading through some of the forums, it's pretty clear this move is pissing off a lot of PC gamers. I think Oculus just gave Vive a huge advantage.

Hmm. Why would it upset PC gamers? I'm not familar with how they are compared to other gamers.

Bundling a controller with Oculus is what's annoying them. Not only does it add unnecessary cost to the package as nearly every PC gamer already owns some sort of Gamepad, but it's also being bundled instead of their new touch controller which is being sold seperately. That's the controller that should have been bundled but they accepted a big bundle of cash from Microsoft to shove Xbox controllers in everyone's faces.

In addition, a lot of PC gamers just don't like Microsoft very much due to their poor treatment of the PC platform.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Seems like a really bad choice, as a bussiness to go that route.

Hopefully they make Rifts that are bundled with their own controllers, so you can get to play games the way the invisioned all along.

Also the PC requirements are insane for this, most people even gamers dont own 1500$+ pcs, ontop of the VR headset, and the extra controllers needed that are sold seperately.

Also Morpheus is supposed to be cheaper (vr headset) than the O Rift. That ll just hook up to your consol.

I think sonys chance of winning / leading the VR market space is almost a done deal at this point.

If your developeing a VR game, you would want to make sure its also going to come out on the PS4.

Ah that makes sense about the controllers. I take it that the touch controller is better than the xbox one controller? I assume the controller will cost around $60? I wonder if the xbox one controllers use proprietary hook ups and cords like the 360 did. I never bothered to check up on that. Hmm I can understand why they're bothered by it.

2014: The power of the cloud.
2015: The power of VR.

None of which we may see on Xbox One.

Come you don't see the power of this !, you will never have to clean the room ever again, you'll be able to play in a virtual room a normal game.

Why did MS make it like playing inside a virtual room?

Why couldnt they have made it sitting ontop of a cloud with a screen just handing there, or sitting under-water in some castle deep down there with fish swimming around as well? how about sitting on the moon? at at the very least some gigantic theature? so many cool room designs they could have done.

Same lame principle, but much much cooler than this demo was.

*edit:

My hope is MS figours out a way to not just make a game run "flat" inside a virtual space, but actually end up doing real vr on the xbox.

But if this is the limits of whats possible, atleast they should dress it up abit. Make some more fun environments to play in, that are silly fantastical creations so far out of the ordinary that it makes it fun to experiance.

Don't think that is MS decision and that video is not more than a prototype.

Some rift players choose to play in a virtual room because they can add 3-6 screens in the virtual room and kills the need of having more than one monitor.

My friends use it for games like day-z  http://www.twitch.tv/zimtok5/b/668429544 it can be usefull to have the map of the game left in the virtual room and on the right information that can be usefull in the game.

I think so too but at the end of the day, it doesn't make a difference because VR devices will flop. Even on a gaming forum there is so little interest, so its very unlikely that the casuals will buy them. .

well, at this point I won't rule out that MS still could announce real VR support for X1 at their E3 keynote(it looks unlikely though), but as the OR has an even higher resolution (2x 1080x1200 - rendering resolution btw is higher than that to compensate for lens distortion) and demands 90fps input (some dropped frames can be offset with reprojection) the visual quality of the games would be a good deal lower than what the PS4 should be able to produce with the Morpheus, but on a better quality screen
