Forums - PC Discussion - Rockstar Continues to screw over PC Gamers....

It would of been better for R* to offer no discount at all and just keep the game at full price instead of pulling such a shotty move and getting backlash for it..

They actually did that.  You can buy the base game, no bells and whistles for the regular price.  Or you can buy one of the bundles for for a dollar or two less.

I'm not defending them.  I don't pay for in-game cash in any game ever.  And never will. And they definitely were a little deceptive about it. But their base game is on Steam, with no discount.

Well a lot of PC gamers arent buying games at full price and wait for a steam summer sale so i understand Rockstars motivation for doing such a thing, a little bit.

I should of known it would take you to come in here and try blame this on PC gamers instead of finding fault with the Dev.

If what you say is true how come that in the same time frame GTA5 on PC outsold the PS4 version and the X1 version even being at full price and released much later. If PC gamers dont buy games at full price why is that the case then??.

It would of been better for R* to offer no discount at all and just keep the game at full price instead of pulling such a shotty move and getting backlash for it..

GTA V on PC outsold PS4 version? When did that happen?

it didnt, physical PS4 releases were more sold than digital and physical on PC

Except it did. We went over this in another thread and im pretty sure you remember it well.. where the PC version sold over 2 million in just 2 weeks at full price on Steam alone without including versions sold on other online stores and in retail stores bringing that number up much higher...

Since when is 2 million > 7 million? Steam normally accounts for the majority of a game's sales (with Witcher 3 being an exception), and the 7 disc physical version surely didn't sell as highly as you seem to think. The PC version sold very well but to say it's at 7 million or more is ridiculous.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Indeed the was a big thread about it awhile back. Anyways GTA 5 on PC sold over 2 million in 2 weeks just on steam and god only knows how much more on other online stores such as Rockstars own store and retail stores. The game most likely sold over 3 million in 2 weeks clarly that number is higher now.

That is still way behind the PS4 version though, but maybe it did ousell the PS4 version by now. Still the way you said it, you seemed to be absolutely sure about it.

So are you trying to say that the PS4 version sold 7 million in 2 weeks?? you do know that the combined sales for both the PS4 and X1 version within a month was at like 4 million and thats in a month. So as you see in the same time frame GTA5 on PC outsold the PS4 and the X1 version. Now clearly if your going to include total sales of the PS4 version from its release till now its going to be higher since the game has been on sale for almost a year longer...

And i know many of people that got the R* version..

Scratch, didn't catch the "in the same time frame." You're correct there. Whether that's a valid argument considering the next gen versions had mostly double dippers and the PC version launched near nothing else is another topic, one I don't even care about frankly.

Keep in mind that you knowing people that bought the game physically does not mean it sold well. Most of my friends have a Wii U but that doesn't mean it's doing well.

looks like Gta 5's rating dropped a little on steam due to this. from 9/10 to 8/10

I can see rockstar's dudes sitting in their huge pile of money cleaning the sweat of their faces with $100 notes because the 2yo port that was the least of their priorities is getting lower scores.

Would agree, think they're shaken to the core that they've upset some people who wanted to buy their game for €5, those are where the real money is made.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Hasn't this discussion been had regarding other titles before? Like Deus Ex on Wii U, among others? And wasn't the conclusion that full price for older ports was unfair?
Seems like this doesn't apply for PC gamers.
I for one have already paid full price once on the PS3, if I want a better deal on the PC version, that arrived over six months after the PS4/One port, that's only fair in my honest opinion.

And god only knows how much people bought it from PSN. 22 Million userbase vs almost ∞ PCs around the world by the way.

45m sales means they can do what they want....
