Tell that to Ps3, PsP and PSV
Playstation has lead 3 generations on homeconsoles. Nintendo has lead.... 3 generations on homeconsoles and every generation of handhelds (5?), let´s not act like Sony is some kind of mighty king when even sony fans says that PS4 is only winning because the other 2 fucked it up.

Most of the money went into online infastructure and R&D as well. Nintendo made more money but they never be able to catch up to Sony, MS is now lacking too.

Nintendo won the other two generations because they stepped in first after the crash. The PSP and vita havent won but they sold way more than who ever tried to do handhelds before (sega, atari).
Certainly not the games.
I mean I love blood borne and the multiplats but not many exclusives that are fantastic.
I'd say riding momentum from launch on marketing.
Mixed with nobody wants a Wii u at all.

Mostly marketing. I think they spend more money marketing the ps4 than Microsoft does marketing the x1. I certainly see ps4 ads a lot more regularly than x1 ads.

Sony's indie games don't count
Sony's Japanese exclusives are too niche
Sony's holiday lineups are always lacking
Sony's AAA 1st-party titles suck
just selling on hype...for a 2nd year in a row
Because as lazy as Sony's been throughout this generation so far. Competitors (Nintendo and MS) aren't really doing anything great to steal Sony's leadership in the Market.
In fact, most of Nintendo and MS actions seem more directed to fiz their own mistakes than to give Sony some trouble.
They just straight up have the better console (most power, most third party support, great pricing, no mess ups to have people complaining)
