Forums - Nintendo Discussion - So i just played Splatoon for a large amount of time

For me, the game has grown the better I have become. There is some really nice depth to the game, I have met some players who have been leagues above me skill wise doing some crazy cool dodges and attacks. Wanna learn how to do that :>

Well, 7 - 7.5 isn't far off from the standard score of 8, so that's a reasonable score. It's fine if the game does not appeal to you. No matter how great a game some people may say certain ones are, some people will not think the same. That's just how it is. We all don't have to think the same way.

I read some posts in here and I am like I want to say: welcome to competitive online shooters. :P

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

What posts make you want to say that? I'm fairly certain everyone here has played an online shooter before Splatoon.

The game looks fun indeed but I never got that feeling of having to go out of my way to buy it like I get with other games.

The craze could be explained by Nintendo fans having another release from their favorite company and enjoying it. Plus it is all colorful and stuff, the way they like them games.

I don't have proof for any of the following, but I have this hunch that maybe there are a lot of Nintendo fans that may suffer hemophobia or something. That would explain the way that some of them have this immediate reaction of repelling anything with gore and Kool-aid spilling action that comes their way. This may be good material for an specific study in the future, interesting stuff.

Warned - Leadified

I doubt it, but there are probably a lot of Nintendo fans that suffer from not liking utterly forgettable and interchangable dudebro games with terrorists or zombies, that either take themselves way too serious or are trying too hard to be edgy and cool :)

Lots of Nintendo fans are praising games like Bloodborne and The Witcher, Bayonetta obviously, and supporting games like Bloodstained.

I think the craze could be explained by Splatoon trying something new in a stale genre, and the fact that it works very well mechanically and has a surprising amount of depth underneath the surface. And yes of course the aestetics helped but isn't that the case for every game? Nintendo fans also praise the creepy atmosphere from Metroid.

But each to their own I guess. It's happened to me, not understanding why everybody love a certain game.

Stop lying to yourself, everyone knows that Nintendo fans are 12 years old kids that plays pokemon everyday day and they know nothing about other kind of games.

Two things I don't really care for: Rollers and Killer Wail

Still love it tho :)

Rollers and killer wail are great for maps with smaller spaces though.

For me, it has been the most addictive online multiplayer shooter experience I've had in years.

haven't finished reading the whole thread. but this is really why i love Splatoon. the rating i'll give to the game is about 7.5~8 nothing more than that for me.

before i only played shooters at PC (CS, De Dust 3 anyone? killing your enemy with a knife. :)

What isn't special about this game? It's one of the most innovative games from a major company since... years.

just finished the thread. i would say that i have a 5 hour (sat) 9 hour (sun) play through. the 9 hour though have some bathroom breaks and have taken my lunch.

still a blast, i'm at level 18. wanted to max out my level then play the single player and the ranked battle. i'm not good anymore with shooters since the pc days in the early 2000s.

shooter genre is really more about you and your friends playing and having a blast. but splatoon is also great even without having your friend online, i know it would really be more fun playing with your close friends. but in Splatoon is really fun and the time is just 3-minutes. if DLCs are still coming the game is still fresh and hopefully they'll increase the level cap.
