So I am going to get a lot hate for this, but if you care to read the post you might understand why this article is written. Now the case on PS vita is simple it failed as a hardware device due to the strange memory cards, and even though it's first year was quite good, it dropped soon enough. Even Sony doesn't support the handheld anymore and except Japan the handheld is already considered a relic. Yes that means it has crappy support and is near dead. It doesn't deserve to sell more than 17.5 million LT.

Now the Wii U has better support, but where MS is getting crap for releasing sequels, Nintendo does seem to come away with it easily. If we count only true new games from Nintendo and not direct sequels or some sort of spinoffs, Nintendoland, (Decent) Splatoon (Good) and the W101 (Good) are the only games which are actually new. For the sake of it I like Nintendo reviving bayo 2, but there was no way this was going to be a succes. If we count this year, except Splatoon I have to see what other game is really worth buying this year.

While the PS4 already got Bloodborne, The Witcher 3, Pcars and Mortal kombat X for this year. Sony and MS have already published more or are a tie in NEW IP's while they are a year behind. For MS it is Ori, (Great) Rise (mediocre) and Sunset Overdrive (Good). For Sony it is Knack, (mediocre) The order, (mediocre) Driveclub (decent) and Bloodborne (Greatness). Even though the quality of those games is sometimes doubtful I got to apreciate the risc they where willing to take where Nintendo plays very safe. Inluding the lack of Third Party support the Wii doesn't deserve 20 million units since that would be an insult to the gamecube and the dreamcast. Which both did to deserve to sell more.

I got a Wii U and even though I enjoy MK 8, SM3DW and SSB, this is my last Ninty console. Simply because the draughts are on the verge of idiotic especially when you release a 2d platformer to release nothing meaningful for 3/4 months. So do you agree these consoles deserve the crappy sales ordo you thin either (probaly Wii U), deserves more sales and have equal or more value than the PS4 or Xone.

We all have our opinions but, for me, it doesn't matter if a game is a new IP. I just want something good to play. I guess I'm in the minority because WiiU sales are in the toilet.

There is not to much wrong with Sequels, but once in a while you should not purely be depended of a sequal of a serie. Sony killed of Jack and Daxter and brought something entirely new to the table. I for one would like to see Nintendo do that, for instance put Mario Bros away for a while and make an entire new serie. During the GC era they introduced Pikmin, N64 was innovative enough due to 3d graphics and even the Wii had some new gems. I for one would like to see Nintendo making a completely new big 3D actionadventure/platform/strategic/RPG series instead of the same old franchises all over again. Especially if it is another 2d platform game.

I see the Wii U less as a console that doesn't deserve sales and more as one with a lot of wasted potential. The gamepad could have introduced new ways to play games, which Nintendo Land showed that potential as well as Zombi U, and there were other games that used it in small different ways, but in the end will get under utilized. Although the Wii U lacks in quantity, it really makes it up in its quality. Not many games, but the ones it has, they're dang good. Also, if the next Ninten console ends up being really spectacular, will you still pass it? o:

And Vita too was a console that could have done so much more, but ended up falling off, maybe due to overpriced memory cards, being too expensive, or other factors. Either way, the poor sales of these consoles is really sad : (

The fact that they did not make a 3D Mario is disappointing. No Mario Galaxy 3 or Mario Universe. There should have been a proper 3D Mario sequel. I don't count 3D World. Delaying Zelda. No Metroid. Very poor Virtual console support. Yes, Wii U deserves failure status.

As for Vita, If you like Japanese games, PSP support, PS1 classics on the go, etc. It is worth owning. However, it's ridiculous high price, and the newer models having an inferior screen that has off tint color, Vita is deserving of only little more success than Wii U in my opinion.

Of course they do, I hope nobody tries arguing against that.

I see them both as cash cows 10 years from now so buy up people!!

Effort deserves success. Nintendo still pushes the WiiU even though it's borderline a lost cause. Sony doesn't push their "legacy" platform anymore, at least out of Japan.

Nintendo sequels are always one of the best games in generation, if that games are not so good or mediocre, situation would be very different.

Nintendo already merge their handheld and home divisions, and they already announced cross development for their next handheld and home consoles, also hardware spec will be ARM/x86 so it will be much easier to port games from another platform. All that will affect on less draught on next home console.

I will always prefer great high quality sequel over mediocre new IP. Situation when you get great and new IP are very rare, but Splatoon done that.

Well Wii U have Splatoon for now and it seems it will be bigger IP than Pikmin.

Nintendo Wii U games are fenomanal, and even in this state are better than Wii and when all be said and done, it will be bette than GC too.
