Disagree with gameplay and story. Neither are awful but not great.

Good post, as always. It's funny how you give it an 8.5 because it is such a polarizing game; from what I have seen it usually gets a 10 or a 0 haha

8.5 is such a high score!

I liked the game, but I can't deny it has it issues, and in the beginnin is was really clear and actually weight to the whole game itself, as I could have dropped it there as the people who give it a 0 probably did.
It doesn't deserved a 10, but it's very far from a bad game.


I agree that it is a high score! But I must say that it is a very polarizing game for the fanbase, being the first 3d world, the first VA'd FF, lack of overworld etc

I know you prefer turn based rather than ATB but you can set the option to "wait" so you can take all the time you need in previous FFs. Also, I like the artstyle and the oriental + uniqueness that it gave off but I didn't like the character designs (Most notably, the faces). I thought the faces looked pretty bad but that's due to its age. Also, there were points in the story which I enjoyed, but I didn't enjoy it as much as FFX purists. I didn't like a lot of the main characters and was not invested in the Tidus/Yuna relationship.

EDIT: So is FFXII next? :D

Well, I play the game how it wants me to play it, if it has the ATB there it wants me to use it, as it always start with it anyway.
I do like the ATB as I said, I just preffer turn-based, but again, I'll play the game as it is proposed to me to do so.

Also, the faces of the general folks could have being a bit strange, but damn Yuna looked amaze-balls. Her face was top level stuff.
Kimahri, Tidus and specially Auron as well.

I'm not a purist, I'm playing the game just now and I enjoyed it

And nope, we talked about 12 a lot already, it pains me you forgot it, it's my favorite FF
Next will be 10-2, naturally.

Oh my...good luck with 10-2 then. And I also really enjoyed 12 but didn't enjoy 10 so much, who knows :p

Still nice review. Don't agree with the music (aside from Seymour nothing was particularly memorable) but glad you enjoyed it.

Why, you disliked 10-2? People say it's better than 10 afaik.

12 is amazing, kind of a single player MMO experience (lol, as if that makes sense).

What about you? You went for 9 after 8?

Yeah we're still trucking our way through 9 but it's very very slow progress as you could imagine. Will try and up the tempo shortly.

Definitely the most polarizing of the games. I'd say it's what separates the newer generation of FF fans from the old. In terms of respect I'd probably say it's seen as very mild for the series... It's my absolute fave (right behind 12 and 3) but I can understand why some don't like it -as long as the opinion doesn't come from the regular FF community (the absolute most cancerous fan-base of all of gaming), then I respect how people feel about it. It's not for everyone, but there's something very beautiful about the world that I can't get enough of. The soundtrack is amazing imo (especially To Zanarkand which I think is brilliant) but I think FF7 just edges it out to me by a slight margin.

In the last thread some were telling it, and I remember reading stuff in this line around the years in the  internet.

And how about it? 9 was a love ride to me since the very first minute

Wow, time to hunt through the old thread and start unfriending people then. I wouldn't say it's an awful game, just a bad one. Completely different to X though so I dunno how much you'll enjoy it...

It's good so far. Only on the hunt in that city so early days but right now it's pretty good. Would like to get more stuck in to battles though!

I think both 7 and 9 OST are levels above 10. But it does have it's good tracks indeed.

And I didn't understand, how can 10 be yout absolute fav if it's behind both 3 and 12? XD

And we couldn't agree more in the part that the world is beautiful, because damn it is.

I agree with 7, disagree with 9 besides a few tracks. This is why I love and hate FF in general, I love some of them but only kinda like others... XD 

Oh sorry, I meant 12 and 3 are behind 10 as my fave in that order. Something happened to me just a few minutes ago so I haven't had much focus on stuff at the moment XD very interesting story behind that actually v.v XD

It's probably my favorite world in FF. It's so tropical :3 however I also love the worlds of 3, 6, 7, 9, and 12's a lot too. It's always so hard to pick for me because theyre all so amazing.
