Hey i am planning to start swimming soon enough. What gym workouts do you recommend to get better in the pool?

Hmmmm that's a tough one. I'm no expert on swimming but to be honest swimming is a pretty good workout in itself! I'm trying to think of some accessory lifts in the gym to help with swimming but I'm not too sure what to recommend. I hope you don't mind if I refer you to the Fittit wiki for some research! They would probably be able to help you a lot more than I could https://www.reddit.com/r/Fitness/wiki/index

thank you i'll check it out.

Yes, I split it. First lower body and then upper body.

I found to be very good because I don't end tired. I can put a lot more weight in every part.

For example, today it's Day 1 on lower body and Day 3 on upper body. So, quadriceps and shoulders. Today is a light day.

Butt and back day are harder -_-

After sometime, I will start with "pyramids" (dunno how to say in english). I fear those.

more power to ya! I have pyramids too except I rarely go back down the pyramid haha

Hahaha, more like a ladder/stairs! (I also cheat...hehehe)

With summer being here and all, starting last week I began a 30-days cutting diet. Been undergoing strength workouts ever since and will continue to do so until the end of the cut. Results are already showing, definitely a good year for me in terms of fitness.

Is it okay to go pushup day, situp day, pushup day, situp day, or should I give more time between the same exercises?

Other than that I've really taken up hiking. Snagged a few good pics from my recent hike in the Waterton Lakes Park this past Saturday. It was a 12km (roundtrip) hike past a waterfall and 1200 feet up a mountain to a glacier fed lake. Very nice hike with some great views, and totally worth it! Especially since I brought steak with me to chow down on.

Here's a picture of the endpoint - Bertha Lake:

In the future I have plans to go on some 2-3 day hikes across the US border (within the same park). Hiking is great guys! So is mountain biking. I highly recommend both activities for some cardio that doesn't suck balls!

Mountain and road biking is my favorite. I'm trying to get as much in as possible in spring to fall from 30km upto 100km routes, usually between 60 and 80. I let the wind decide which direction to set out. It's always nice to have it a bit easier on the way back.
Today I had to go to the dentist, decided to take the bike, 12km there and a detour to a trail on the way back for another 35km. Might as well get in some cycling when I get a chance. I banged up my leg a bit downhill on an overgrown washed out dirt road. I managed to stay on but it was like riding a bucking bronco for a bit. Hurray for front suspension. I guess they close roads for a reason :)

Summer is awesome, our pool gets used daily and I can work out on the deck in the sun. Hiking in the snow is fun too, but I prefer summer by a large margin. I'm glad it's still just beginning!

Honestly you could do them both every day, if you ask me

Summer is DA BEST! I love the outdoors, and although being out in the snow is fun, there just isn't as much to do

Cool, thanks.

Think I'll stick to alternating days, it feels like a comfortable rhythm now. Slowly upping my situps, now up to 4 sets of 60 every other day. Starting to see the start of some abs showing through. :)

I'm glad this thread is still alive. good job Reeiam!

Anyway. To any weight lifter who is trying to lose weight this summer, you should gauge how successful your cut is not just by the scale and how good you look, but also by your performance. The plan is to lose fat and not muscle (obviously) so if your performance has suffered, you need to take a step back and reassess what went wrong. Just remember to take things slow. Loss of strength might happen inevitably depending on how far and extreme the fat loss phase is going to be, but a quick and drastic drop is a sure sign that something went wrong.

Sometimes the best solution is to just take a week off! Many would be surprised how much stronger they would come back.
