Movement to work on traps and lats

Around the Network

My goals are a bit more modest... but I guess I'll post anyway.

My primary goal is to lose weight. I'm at about 180, down from about 210, but it's been frustratingly slow going the last month.

I can run about 3 miles (I think that's just about a 5K). Fairly slow though, at about 32 minutes. I want to get up to about 5 miles, then work on speed.

In terms of weight lifting and such, my goal is to be able to do a set of ten with my bodyweight for bench pressing. I'm losing weight and getting stronger, so the numbers are getting close together. As of now, I can do three sets of 10 with 115 lbs. Hoping to be at 135 by the end of June at the latest. With weight loss as my main goal though, there's a limit to how quickly I can go since I can't put on much, if any, mass. I'm mainly weightlifting to keep as much muscle as possible while losing weight.

Another goal is to be able to do a set of 10 pull ups. I have a lot of trouble with these, so I've been using an assisted pull up machine. I can do 3 sets of 10 with a 30 lb assist.

One I get down to my target weight (about 150, but may be 5 lbs more or less depending how I look and feel when I get there), then I'll try to add some muscle and shoot for bigger goals in that realm.

Welcome aboard to the both of you, and good luck!

Thanks! :) Sorry, I missed this post somehow.

Anyway, since last posting, I made it to 100 pushups in a set, now I am focussing on doing them more slowly to build my endurance.

Also started doing 4 sets of 40 situps every other day, to try to build my abs, along with 4 sets of 30 leg raises. After many months, I think I'm finally starting to see results in terms of visible muscle, which is encouraging.

Just remember about diet and sleep and you'll be golden! You need to eat at a calorie deficit to lose weight, so burn those calories + add strength with your exercise/weightlifting, and power up with good foods and a good sleep. You've got this!

You mean 100 pushups in a row? Impressive! Keep at it!

Small update:

I switched gyms this past month since I no longer go to school at the local college. I'm now at the University gym (I'll be attending in the fall) and I love it so much more! A way better facility with access to many more machines/weights/platforms, as well as a swimming pool and a running track. Plus I can do some boxing work after my workouts too for some cardio that doesn't suck ass!

Also hit two PRs this week! 200kg squat Wednesday (440 lbs) and a 230kg deadlift (507 lbs, conventional stance) today! Very proud of both of these lifts. Pretty soon I will be tackling the bench press PR, but first I have to get used to barbell flat bench again, because I've been doing dumbbell incline only for about a month :-p (whoops)

Other than that I'm continuing to hike and mountain bike, and I also bought a fitbit to count my steps daily. Also have been taking my food and sleep way more seriously as of late (yay for naps!).

Anyhow I am very happy with where I am right now (still at 205 btw but I've lost some BF %) and I can only get better!

Thanks man. :D

Yeah, 100 in a row, but my form could be better, (I do them fast) so I'm working on that now.

And well done yourself, 200kg squat and 230kg deadlift is damn good stuff.

Who wouldn't?

Did some work on clean and jerk, managed to just get 92kgs, so pushing that PR, and was a bit excited.

Dramatization: I can't be the only one who jumps and cheers after a PR though...

That girl is Norwegian. Cool.

Anywho, my exercising is still mostly running and swimming. Run 6.5 kilometers three times a week (about 4 miles for you silly imperial system folks). My last round was 30 minutes and 10 seconds on monday, hoping to get below the 30 min mark today. Will post what I end up with when I'm done.

Well fuck. 30 mins and 9 seconds lol

Oh well, an improvement is still an improvement right, even if it's just by 1 second lawl

Weight lighting friendly competition this weekend. Images below are me and my partner doing snatches.
