Two Latino man were recently arrested when during a trip on a subway they spread their legs so much that they took up more than one seat.

What do you guys think about this? Should they have been politely asked to close their legs? Is this arrest going to far? Is there more to the story, than what is being reported?

From what I've heard it's actually this huge thing that's going on in NY. It's not small isolated incidents, everyone is doing it.

"It also states that the judge "expressed skepticism" over the charges, given that the arrests were made at 12:11am when the subway would have been relatively quiet."

Yeah, this seems like a BS arrest to me.

Also, the phrasing just seems sexist @.@

If a man in NY can't stretch his legs wide open to free his balls, in the subway in the middle of the morning... then I don't want to visit that place. Never.

Why is it called man spreading and not just leg spreading?

Because let's say, if it would have been a woman with optional no underwear situation it would have been ok and not an issue.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Clearly women can't get arrested for this. How odd.

But even so this is the first I've ever heard of this being a thing rather than even being illegal. How odd.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

What if it was two Latinas, would they arrest them too?

Land of the free., except when your legs are too far apart from each other. This is what the United States has been reduced to. Once a country created on the ideals of freedom and opportunity. We are now arresting citizens because they are taking up too much room. Think about that for a second. Are we arresting obese people for taking up too much room as well? Why are we specifically targeting men? This entire thing seems like satire.

That's flat out ridiculous. And the term "manspreading" is really sexist, which is ironic seeing how it originated. This is yet another case of something considered bad or negative behavior in society being blamed on males; as if women don't take up space on seats with their shopping bags, purse, clothing etc.

For me, when I ride the subway, I can't sit with my legs completely shut, if there is someone sitting opposite me, we'll be touching legs and knees since I'm kinda tall.
I try to take up as little space as possible, I don't put my stuff in the adjacent seat if there are a lot of people, I give my seat to the elderly, pregnant women, children with the parents or handicapped, I can sit in such a way that I take up more space when there are few people on the train.

This is not something that the police should be involved in at all, being arrested for this is ridiculous. And that term is still incredibly sexist towards men, I guess this is what equality looks like to some.
