Valve has announced the first pre-order details for a series of upcoming Steam Machines and when they'll be available.

Though lots of Steam Machines have been announced, only a few will be available to pre-order now along with the Steam Controller. Doing so, however, will allow you to pick the hardware up several weeks before anyone else.

North American gamers will be able to pre-order an Alienware Steam Machine,Steam Link or Steam Controller from GameStop or Steam as of today and get their order on October 16, with the official launch not happening until November 10. This offer is only available for a limited time.

In Europe and Canada, GameStop, EB Games, Micromania, GAME and Steam are offering the Steam Link and Steam Controller for pre-order.

CyberPower's Steam Machine is set to be available directly from its site in all regions. More information on other Steam Machines will be coming in the next few weeks.

What are you picking up?  I'm going to pre order a steam link as I have been waiting for a way to stream my PC games so I can play some great co-op platformers from steam on the TV with the wife.  Up in the air still on the steam controller.

Edit:  Fuck it just pre ordered both.  Didn't think that I could use my steam wallet funds (which I have a lot of due to selling my skins from my esports winnings).

Around the Network

So you pre-ordered both the controller and the Link? I hope you post your impressions once you get your hands on them.

I'm not really interested in any of them, specially the "Steam Machines", but if the controller is good... you never know.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Yeah, just saw it on Steam. This is probably the only thing to come out of Valve's offices that I have practically zero interest in, between having a rig and at least one console, I just don't see where this fits in.

You see it fits a Niche for me.  I have a Wii U for the living room TV that we use for Nintendo games and netflix.  The Steam link will allow me to play my 200 game (most of the games) catalog on my TV with my wife.   She wont play games in the pc room as she is not much of a gamer.   I'm hoping it has two controller support so we can play many of the awesome multiplayer indie games on Steam on the TV.  Additionally, many games are just better from a couch and on a larger TV.  If me and some friends can get a Civilization V hot seat match on my tv it will make it such an awesome experience.    It's cheaper then buying a secondary PC just for the TV.

I can see how someone might want something like that, I'm more of a classic nerd and I live by myself...

Cool that they're giving it a go though, competition is good and they've been known to expand the industry constantly for over a decade now.
