A few threads have popped up defending the Wii after PS4 has hit 50% marketshare saying the Wii is more impressive still etc..

So we know that the PS4 managed to outsell the Wii for a year costing 80% more.

How do you think things would be if the PS4 costed $250 at launch? LTD in the same time span of course.

This seems completely silly but I randomly feel as though this is necessary.

Probably terribly without a killer app like wii sports. The tech in a 250 dollar ps4 would hold it back

Depends on how aggressive the marketing is, who is targeting who in the ads, what games are being shown, where the ads are being placed, what games are and aren't being bundled, etc. There's much more to it than just a price drop.

That would be financial suicide for Sony packing all that tech.

It could break all the sales records it wants, that would be Sony's last console if they priced it as such at the start of the gen.

I am taking this as Sony sells at a $150 loss per unit, and the PS4 is the PS4 we know.

In that case, it would be no competition. If Sony could manufacture them, they would easily have 30M by now, and would probably be closer to 40 than 30. PlayStation is a bigger brand, and Nintendo benifited greatly from PS3 being $499.99 at launch.
