Yeah, and of course, in your strange world-view, it was just a strange coincidence that these FIFA arrests (which, as you correctly said, have been investigated "for years") happened just two days before the FIFA elections.

And of course, it's just a coincidence that the media is almost exclusively blaming and concentrating on Blatter - despite the fact that while seven people were arrested, there are not even official charges against Blatter.

Considering that the investigations have been going on for years, any reasonable person would assume that the US simply completely failed at finding any significant evidence against Blatter in recent years. But I'm sure you know better!

FIFA really did it all.

He was the guy in charge, so of course they're going to concentrate on him especially considering how senior these officials were. He was either just as corrupt as the other officials to allow it to take place or completely incompetent to not notice it was happening.

And as far as I know, the FIFA world cup has never ever been taken away from a country so far, despite experts saying that there was no FIFA world cup without corruption in several decades. So history suggests that I do not stand the slightest chance at winning the bet. So what are you even afraid of?

That makes about as much sense as blaming POTUS when a democratic senator in the US takes bribes or kills his wife.

I mean, do you seriously think that when people take bribes, they proudly tell it around?

Sorry, I consider that ridiculous. At FIFA votings, about 200 people are entitled to vote. Sepp Blatter has no chance at surveiling 200 people 24/7, he's not the fucking NSA.

While I am happy I won't see Blatter's face anymore,I still want to know what took them so long to make a move. I know this sounds silly , but I thought the world simply didn't care. "it's just football" is what I used to say

Jack Warner is one of 14 people charged by US prosecutors over alleged corruption at Fifa.

The US Justice department alleges the 14 accepted bribes and kickbacks estimated at more than $150m (£97m) over a 24-year period.

Mr Warner denies all charges of corruption.

He resigned from Fifa's executive committee and all other football commitments in 2011 amid allegations he had bribed his Caribbean associates.

He later stepped down as Trinidad and Tobago's security minister amid a fraud inquiry.

A key figure in the deepening scandal, in a recent statement he said he had given lawyers documents outlining the links between Fifa, its funding, himself and the 2010 election in Trinidad and Tobago. He said the transactions also included Mr Blatter.

It makes perfect sense considering how close some of those charged are to him. He either willfully ignored the corruption, was in on it anyway, or was plain incompetent to not follow the obvious signs. These allegations have been put forward for a long time but rather than try and fix them he's willfully hidden things. Then we have the corruption report last year:

He had the information but hid it. That's also ignoring the fact he puts the policies in place to allow this rampant corruption or that the finger is now being pointed at him by his once colleagues and is the subject of investigation himself.

Swiss authorities seize IT data from FIFA officials, including Sepp Blatter

The Swiss Attorney General's office “seized IT data” from multiple high-ranking FIFA officials Wednesday, it confirmed to the BBC. 

Data was seized from FIFA president Sepp Blatter, general secretary Jerome Valcke and the organization's finance head, according to the BBC's Richard Conway. 

The Swiss have been investigating FIFA and the bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, which were awarded to Russia and Qatar, respectively. Swiss federal prosecutors said on May 27 that they had opened criminal proceedings in the matter. Reuters reported on June 3 that the FBI is also investigating the bid process.

The Swiss investigation is separate from the American investigation that has already led to the indictment of 14 FIFA officials and business partners.

Swiss investigators told FIFA they had identified IT material needed for their 2018/22 inquiry. FIFA cooperated today and handed it over.

Blatter announced on June 2 that he will resign as FIFA's president, with an election to name his successor to be held at least four months from now.

Blatter's announcement came one day after a report in The New York Timesstated that Valcke, Blatter's top deputy, was the FIFA official who prosecutors say wired $10 million to accounts controlled by former CONCACAF president Jack Warner.

Prosecutors allege that money was originally supposed to be paid to South Africa to support the 2010 World Cup and was instead paid to Warner as a bribe in exchange for three votes for South Africa's World Cup bid.
