Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony needs their own Amiibos, this is why

Id rather Sony focused on games rather than toys. I mean just look at Nintendos game line up, maybe if they put as much effort into funding some more games rather than toys they would be dead last this gen. I'm talking about consoles of course before some handheld warrior shoots me down.

They may just be small toys, but they are very profitable. I'm surprised Nintendo didn't start making them sooner.

I guess. I still have yet to open my Lucario Amiibo, mostly because he's still extremely hard to find, but also because I don't really see the purpose behind them.

I see them as nice trophies to have on my shelf but due to scalpers and lack of delivery, I just don't see a reason to buy one atm, Jim Sterling kinda puts it into a better perspective and he loves the things.

I really do want the Splatoon set pretty badly but them selling out just kills my interest.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

I'd like a Crash Bandicoot one... that's about it.

Also, Mister Mosquito is kid friendly? I could swear one of the levels involved biting a woman's chest as she was bathing.

That's correct. It was either that or she was getting dressed.

i don't think they need it since PlayStation is a popular gaming brand for all age gamers already for 3 gen, you know what i mean...

Ummm... They don't need to rely toys/gimmicks to sell their consoles.

I cant believe you think this at all....... Amiibo's are the cause of less games? C'mon are the developers making toys over games now? :/

Amiibo have nothing to do with more or less games being made

The key aspect to remember is that there has to be something to pull the initial weight. The less known figurines from the various amiibo waves benefited from the brand power of the most popular IPs, plus the appeal of the Super Smash Bros. series itself. So the argument will inevitably lead back to PSABR and that doesn't make a good case for Sony.

We all know why amiibos sell well its because nintendo made a hyp for them by limiting the production, sony can do the same

no, sales wouldnt be close.

Sony has pretty much ditched the (E) market this generation. Gone are the PS1/PS2 days when they had just about every genre on lock down. Now, it's mostly an M rated machine so making toys for their games? Not a chance.

I'd prefer Sony actually get a steady line of games trickling out from their first party studios before they spend their PlayStation money on an NFC line. Right now it's almost Nintendo barren; it's making it tough to justify a PS4 for Battlefront alone this year. I mean hell, I'd prefer they don't work on the VR gimmick at all either because it's not gonna catch on with a console (or likely a PC), since that's a side project that can actually affect their game development unlike any PS amiibos.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!
