24th

oh ok. So xbox only has indies none cares for til the 24th,,,smh

some more impressions from a few games I happen to play lately.

Octodad: Dadliest Catch
I didn't expect much from this game after having seen its Metascore, but I was entertained a lot actually. The game is really funny, nice to look at and just fun to play. Even though you'd think the controls are terrible (which is kinda the point of the game) but they are much easier that you might think from watching videos. Octodad and his wife are very likeable characters, while the antagonist is pretty weak. This is also true for the boss fight at the end.
Achievements are fun to get for the most part. Making the game a bit more challenging but overall a pretty easy completion. Took me a bit over 5 hours to get 1000G, I'd say the game's length is alright.
7.75/10

XCOM 2
Perfect game if it wasn't for some technical problems...
Graphics could be a little better but they're alright and not much of an issue. The real issues are the following:
long loading times, framerate going down to single FPS digits during mission loading cutscene, voice over delay during some cutscenes
glitches: ending a character's turn and the game kinda freezes for a minute and in a bad case it won't jump to the next character at all, Faceless enemy type introduction animation not working at all, button presses not registering
9.5/10

Wasteland 2 Director's Cut
In case you didn't know, it's an RPG with a similar tactical battle system as XCOM. But after playing XCOM, this one feels like a much simpler experience.
Graphics are pretty simple and the rather bad camera makes navigating the world really hard. I never feel like I know where to go since there aren't a lot of landmarks and no mini map. Battling seems much simpler, though I think it's getting a bit more complex later on. But some things just don't make much sense. Like getting a higher evasion and hit chance when getting into cover....even when you're flanked. So standing in the open makes you less likely to hit than hiding BEFORE cover. I'm not that much into the game, but it's alright. Certainly not nearly as good as XCOM 2 or Divinity.
6.75/10

The Walking Dead: Michonne
Telltale... I guess that says it all. Considering I didn't care at all for the Minecraft Story Mode and Batman 1st episodes (even muted the games for the latter chapters), this one didn't bore me that much. Completed 2 of the 3 episodes thus far.
7/10

Penarium
Basically a trial'n'error game. You're only avoiding death traps by jumping (all on a single screen) and complete challenges. It's getting frustrating and boring fast.
3/10

Murdered: Soul Suspect
Finally decided to play a bit further and finish the game in the next few days. Sadly I'm not a fan. Achievements are terrible, basically just trying to find hundreds of collectibles. Gameplay is almost non-existant. I'm half way through and how many enemies have I defeated? Maybe 10 or so. And they're piss easy to defeat as well. Connecting clues or finding the most important one is too specific IMO. Other than that you're just walking around, which is probably the best part. Walking through doors and walls is kinda fun, interacting with ghosts, living people and animals is nice as well.
6/10

Far Cry Primal
Expected a lot less from this spin-off, but it's pretty great! Graphics are fantastic, a nice improvement over Far Cry 4. Characters are likeable, you really want to improve your own clan. Using beasts to observe or attack enemies is fun. I'm not far enough to ride one of them though. It takes some good elements from the survival games without being too unfair or annoying (There is a true Survival mode though if you want). The world seems absolutely huge and I'm absolutely looking forward to what's about to happen during the next few hour as I'm sure there will be new gameplay elements.

This should have released instead of Halo Online, Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike.

This looks already better than any LEGO game I've ever played. A real shame.

Finished Battlefield 1 campaign. Excellent. Although I spent a lot of time on it because I was playing on Hard difficulty, the game is short. I'll take a short excellent campaign over a good repetitive one anytime though. So much variety while maintaining quality which is a very hard thing to do. Especially loved the stealth sections on the game even though they aren't really as well made as other parts of the game.
After playing Gears, Titanfall and Battlefield and hearing good things about COD campaign, I can easily say that this is year of shooting games. The focus on the past few years was multiplayer, but this year all of them delivered an excellent single player campaign. I hope this trend will continue in the next years.

In addition to playing Blue Dragon, I started Far Cry: Dragon Blood and Bioshock.

This is my first time playing Dragon Blood. Spent 30 minutes on it and seems I have a very good game in my hands.

Playing Bioshock after 9+ years reminded me why is it a masterpiece. A true definition of a classic. Even though iron was praised a lot, I still think it is an underrated game! While Infinite is an excellent game, I'm still sad they didn't stick with this game's formula.

Wow , I didn't realise Microsofts studios were this shallow? Only 5 inc mojang.. That's no way near enough.

Do we know of any rumours of potential buy outs or them forming new studios? I think they could do with at least 2 or 3 more decent sized studio's? Surely they must have something in the pipeline ? Phil is always banging on about making their first party stronger?

Also I had no idea Microsoft cancelled an obsidian rpg back in 2012. That would have been awesome.what they thinking.it was called stormlands apparently.

Here it is . Was this already common knowledge? Because I sure as hell didn't know?

Whilst I agree with the "I don't care who makes it". Things become complicated when it comes to the sequels . I'd kill for a sunset overdrive sequel for example but insomniac look like their busy for the foreseeable future . Whereas if they were a first party studio I think we probably would have had a sequel by now ( or at least being developed)

Yeah killing lionhead was a massive shock and a big mistake Imo. I can only assume that come from above Phil? Maybe they could hire/acquire obsidian to work on fable 4? They've obviously wanted to keep the IP for a reason?

What about new studios? Nothing on that front? Coalition was the last one wasn't it ? And that was about 5 years IIRC.

I hope we get some big new (unexpected) exclusives announced soon? I know its been said in here before but Microsoft really need another games press conference.one a year isn't enough . Ideally their own one. So 2 a year roughly 6 months apart . Because I hate that feeling after E3 when its like well now ive got to wait another year for any new exclusive announcements.

If Quantum Break had 3rd person mechanics like The Division, it would've been more popular.

IMO adding multiplayer would make it popular.
