Despite its high price tag from its original reveal, the Xbox One Elite Controller has proved to be an exceptionally hard to come by item for many Xbox fans, and according to Microsoft it seems the premium controller may be a little bit harder to find for a few more months.
Speaking to Tech Insider, a Microsoft representative explained that supplies of the Elite Controller may remain limited until March 2016, as the full statement reads:
“While the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller is sold out in many retailers around the world, we are working quickly to get more units in the hands of fans. We expect more units to arrive at retailers each week but supply may be limited through March 2016.”
The statement reflects the Xbox One Elite Controller’s extremely limited availability, as the premium controller (priced at $149.99) has consistently sold out at most major retailers, such as Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, and more.
Microsoft representatives such as Phil Spencer have explained on the Elite Controller that “they sell out instantly,” indicating that clearly there is high demand for the pricey (but excellent) controller, though hopefully in March it seems Microsoft may be making a greater effort to get a higher supply in.
