343 Industries have confirmed that unranked, social multiplayer playlists are in the works for Halo 5: Guardians. Unlike previous entries in the series, there’s currently a lack of playlists in Halo 5: Guardians that can be played without affecting player ranking. Instead, casual play is limited to the new Warzone mode that 343 Industries introduced at the launch of Halo 5: Guardians.
Posting on the Team Beyond forums, studio head Josh Holmes responded to a post that speculated the lack of variety in unranked multiplayer modes. The user said that it was intentional in order to push players into Warzone, where REQ packs are monetised.
"There was no insidious motivation behind going all ranked for Arena," Holmes said. "That was the design intent of the team working on that experience. That said, we've heard the requests and we are actively working towards supporting unranked playlists for Arena in a future update."
"It may seem straightforward on the surface but lighting up unranked play in Arena is not as simple as flipping a switch,” Holmes continued. “TLDR; We hear you, and we are working on it."
Halo 5: Guardians launched on October 27th and already received its first expansion pack which was free to all players – bringing the highly-requested Big Team Battle mode. There must be a reason why they can't put all the modes in at once. Are we dealing with a MCC type fiasco if they do?
I don't think some stuff wasn't there at release because it was rushed, I think 343i just wanted to force something like Warzone on people so that all people really play it (and invest money with this)
Forge was maybe really not ready for everyone but if they wanted I think stuff like BTB could have been at release. I believe they just released the minimum they needed at release besides Warzone to get no punishment for it in reviews (or from most gamers).
It's about money after all and forcing people to play a mode because of the lack of other modes was in their opinion probably the best way to get as many people as possible paying money for some cards^^
Well, I may be wrong but I think it was at least a part of their thinking.

That's too bad to hear. Then again, they made 360 back compat possible so I definitely think somewhere down the line this will be accomplished. We'll see.
