Gears 5 breaks records as biggest launch for any Xbox Game Studios game this generation

Thanks to the incredible support from our fans, Gears 5 kicked off the Holiday season strong – attracting over three million players in its opening weekend and setting new records for Xbox Game Pass with the biggest launch week of any Xbox Game Studios title this generation. The performance easily doubled the first week’s debut of Gears of War 4 and made Gears 5 the most-played Xbox Game Studios title in its first week since 2012’s Halo 4. First week performance includes the four-day early access period beginning Friday, September 6, which was exclusive to Gears 5 Ultimate Edition and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members. On the PC, Gears 5 has nearly tripled the performance of its predecessor, becoming the biggest-ever launch for Xbox Game Pass for PC, and Xbox Game Studios’ best-ever debut on Steam.

Good to hear. Decided to play a little more today and finished the first act.
While I liked the first 2 chapters, the next 2 chapters were even better. Loved them and the graphics really begin to shine once you get to the hotel.

Nevertheless I got two more little glitches. While loading the third chapter I could already hear the cutscene audio but the loading screen was still visible for about 5-10 seconds. Then after a battle the sound of heavy breathing (caused by running) wouldn't go away even when standing still. It fixed itself after a cutscene.

So far the campaign is far superior to anything in Gears 4.

Well, Gears of War 4 wasn't on GamePass its whole first year... everyone who wanted to play it, had to buy it for over $50... not only pay $1 to $5 for a month of GamePass.

And Halo 4 didn't only set a record of the number of players in its first week, it also had a revenue of 220 billion dollars:

Halo 5 had a revenue of 400 billion dollars in its first week: https://venturebeat.com/2015/11/04/halo-5-guardians-sales-top-400m-in-first-week/

How much revenue did Gears 5 make in its first week? Come on, Microsoft! Show use the revenue numbers you are always so proud about!

So 3 million players in 3 days and more hours played than Halo 4. Great news.

Borderlands 3 performance on Xbox One S is shit.

Just had to quit my game entirely because of @Angelus Just had a glitch "Arch Adonias unlocked Achievement Feelin' a Little Stabby" appear on the screen and it wouldn't go no matter what, even when I backed out to the main menu it came with me.

From what I read, Borderlands 3 on anything but the OneX performance wise is crap.  Hopefully that patch is in the works.  Pretty much the reason I never purchase any games these days, day one.

Glitches aside, Gears 5 campaign is good so far. I'm at the end of Act II.

But man..the multiplayer. They added this joke of a mode Arcade Deathmatch which obviously is aimed for 1st person shooter fans and casuals. It's cool there's a mode for them to enjoy but why did they have to add this aim assist shit and high weapon damages to ranked KotH??

Gnasher is like sawed-off shotgun from Gears 3 but with even more range. You don't even have to land your shots properly anymore. Combine that with high damage quick melee and that's pretty much the end of blood-pumping gnasher fights.

First time I don't feel like playing KotH.

And this Tour of Duty system is horrible. I honestly would prefer lootboxes GoW4 style.

lol sorry about that man

And ya, I'm playing coop with some friends of mine, one of whom still uses the launch Xbox One, and from what he's describing the game is a total disaster on that. Menu a total chore to use with constant slowdowns, and general choppiness, constant fps drops throughout the game, often in the single digits, and lasting for like 3 seconds at a time, ultimate abilities bugging out....and of course crashes.

Basically, it's unacceptable quality.

ah so that's why you rated it 0.5/5 on TA. I was a little worried....
