Yeah, they had awful luck with their marketing deal choices this year. It definitely cost them, 2018 was up over 2017 from January to October, but in November all of that YoY lead was lost. The poor pricing isn't helping either, the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals were actually better last year for XB1 S than they were this year, and now in December XB1S is going for $250, much too high to have any momentum. It's looking like 2018 might be XB1's smallest full year of sales yet thanks to the poor bundles and poor Holiday pricing.

Well in November xbox sold over 800k 2nd week last year because of the X. It makes sense that it is going to be down yoy for that month.

I see that you are playing Ashen. What are your thoughts so far?

I have yet to get far in the game but it's pretty solid. Like a laid back dark souls but more open worldy.

I'm not too far in either. I feels better than the original dark souls. That game always felt heavy and slow. Control layout is basically identical.

Anyone else been playing? Seems to be pretty well received by the critics thus far.

I'm still wondering what made MS go into BF with the Minecraft bundle as their lead offering this year.

Minecraft is by far Microsoft Studios's most popular game. It has 91 million monthly active users, which is actually more than fortnite.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Agreed... Excluding the faceless thing. That's just creepy.

MS definitely needs to go for some big marketing deals next year. Modern Warfare 4 (rumored to be the next CoD), Cyberpunk 2077, Jedi: Fallen Order, Borderlands 3, Splinter Cell. Combine some of those with Gears 5 bundles next Holiday and the rumored $150 S model that's coming next year and hopefully $300 X for BF/CM, and they should have a much better Holiday than they seem to be having this year.

On a side note, it seems like DICE probably won't have a Holiday shooter in 2019 for the first time since Holiday 2014, as Battlefront 3 supposedly got pushed to 2020 after the Battlefront 2 disaster, and it's unlikely that DICE will have another Battlefield ready in a year, so MS is going to need to get CoD next year for sure or else they won't have any 3rd party shooter to market and bundle.

Hopefully MS will make limited edition consoles for some of those upcoming games like Cyberpunk and Borderlands.as well as Gears 5.

Need your thoughts for Prediction League 2019.

1. Shall I include MechWarrior 5? PC only right now (However I am including PC only Microsoft IP such as Age of Empires IV), In talks for an Xbox One port. Microsoft own the IP but are licensing it out. Cannot release on PS4/Switch.

2. What about Microsoft owned IP due to these studio purchases? Such as Wasteland 3 and The Outer Worlds? Shall I exclude them on the basis that they're releasing on PS4 and Microsoft honestly had almost nothing to do with either one, they'll likely fund them both for less than a year.

I think Outer Worlds and Wasteland should be added, even if its for the sake of keeping the thread a bit more active throughout the year. Lat year's was always dead.
