- - playground, undead labs, moon studios are all making exclusives but could part ways in the future. It would be smart for Microsoft to go after them especially playground and moon.
- - splash damage. Rumored to be working on gears spinoff.
- - certain Affinity. 120+ devs with a lot of industry vets including the man behind halo’s multiplayer. They have worked with ms in the past a lot. Think they could make a good aaa game given the chance.
- - obsidian. Let’s face it we need a rpg studio bad.
- - creative assembly. Did halo wars 2 and alien isolation shows they can make a damn good game. Would need to be acquired from Sega.
- - respawn. Never going to happen but they are some of the best in the business

Yeah, their current internal studios are growing quickly, all except Mojang (70ish) but they have multiple games in development still. Rare's had a rapid growth, 343 Industries is already a ridiculous size and The Coalition is growing too.
I doubt Microsoft would be able to keep a studio purchase secret, It would either leak or depending on timing (I believe legally) they'd have to announce it in their fiscal reports so if any do happen then they might as well just announce them as they happen.
I'd definitely purchase Moon Studios (Working on 2 games), Playground Games (Working on 2 games) and Undead Labs (Only State of Decay 2 Atm but they posted concept art of some weird apocalyptic creature-insect looking game) 2/3 wouldn't be expensive to purchase and are still in a small period (Sub-100 developers) plus have a close relationship with Microsoft, however I'm pretty sure all 3 have stated at some point in the past that they don't want to be purchased, and as long as Microsoft makes contracts with them they likely don't see the need of selling out, I more-so hope that Microsoft have signed Moon's 2nd IP and whatever Undead Labs plans next.
I'd wait on Splash Damage (See how their spinoff turns out) and Certain Affinity (Same as reasoning), Certain Affinity spent 10 years building/saving up to do their own AAA independent title though so I can't see them selling out either, although recently they sold some shares of the company to some Chinese company in order to fund it.
Obsidian would be a great purchase, the best and most realistic purchase that Microsoft could make when it comes to an RPG studio, however I think Microsoft wouldn't take the risk due to how much they would cost, alongside that they have Playground making their flagship RPG now, I just don't see a big turn around from Microsoft when it comes to RPG's anytime soon, sadly. We have still yet to receive an exclusive RPG for the entire generation and by the time Fable IV comes out we'll be in next gen.
Creative Assembly/Respawn would be great purchase, could just wait until EA/Sega attempts to close them down
