Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Splatoon: Nintendo why do you insist on bad ideas for great games?!

Ugh, and I thought people would have learned by now. Motion controls are OPTIONAL. (edit: and better than dual-analog too imo)

I agree about local multiplayer though. 4 local vs 4 online was too obvious and somehow it's not there. I guess they thought superjump is impossible without touch screen...

Edit: but seriously, I don't know how 4 player local would work. I guess the only way would be 2players+2CPUs vs 2players+2CPUs, 4 players vs 4 CPUs, or maybe 4 players each on their own, like free-for-all in Smash (or maybe 5 players with gamepad being one?). Still, they should have found a way to put it there.

Why can't 4 human players play at same time with split screen?

most people prefer motion controls in splatoon tho (at least thats what I hear)

I was surprised to like them, I expected them to be garbage. I actually find it easier to snipe with the motion controls for that last second twitch.

Yeah, I too was expecting to hate them, but after getting the hang of them, playing with the gyro turned off feels stiff and slow to me now.

Still not as good as Wiimote + Nunchuk, but better than standard dual analogue.

I agree with the local play.. there should be the option to play turfwars locally :/

Somebody ban this scumbag for stealth trolling the Wii. Complains about missed opportunities, but doesn't mention Wiimote+Nunchuk support.

This too!!!!

Yeah, the lack of local play is a bit of a bummer. :/

They can - it's just that 2vs2 on split screen just sounds awful in my opinion. I think 4-player splitscreen (or 5 with gamepad) in a free-for-all mode would be better. Actually, I always thought Splatoon should have had modes with more than just 2 teams for added chaos, but whatever.

No... it would be a free for all. No teams. Plenty of games have done this in the past very successfully.

You do realize you can turn off the gyro aiming, right?

LOL no. I just popped game in and started playing. Didn't go through settings. haha

Well, there ya go, enjoy your motion-less aiming. ;)

There is local play, just 1v1 only. I'm stating it shouldn't be limited to 1v1. But should be 1v1v1v1.

Exactly.

Having only 1v1 is pretty limiting, if you ask me.
