Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Splatoon Map Rotation

I'm not too bothered by map rotation (at least in the testfire) but having more would always be nice

The match making update should help fix these issues too

I actually quite like the map rotation, I think it's a good way of making sure that people keep logging in and keeping the servers active. That said, if I'm right about them switching to a 3 map rotation when more maps are out then I'll be happier, 2 is a little bit too easy to tire of.

Yeah, i dont mind the map rotation as well. It also allows you to try different weapons on each stage, with different gear, to finds whats the most effective for you.

Pocky Lover Boy!

I have to guess that somehow having a limited number of maps available cuts down on cost somewhere down the line and Nintendo until late in the game's development didn't really intend for this to be that BIG of a title before hype, buzz and their own situation with the lack of titles on the Wii U actually became apparent.

The idea of the rotation in general is to allow players to adjust strategies to the maps given for that time frame. Somebody might be able to rock a Roller on the Skatepark, Rig, and Mall, but if it were completely random they might get shafted by Walleye or something. Surprisingly, I'm pretty okay with this design choice, especially compared to other blunders Nintendo made with the game. It makes sense and helps ensure a more varied weapon variety over the long term (especially when we get to 20+ maps).

That's just for clarification since most of the people in this thread don't seem to get why there's a rotation. And yes, there will definitely be three maps per rotation later on.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Maybe the third spot is DLC maps?

I just hope when they get more maps they'll do off with the rotation alltogether

I think the whole rotation thing is pretty dumb, IMO.

I'm hoping for the rotations to be bigger, or gone all together, once more maps come out.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

The 2 maps per 4 hours kinda sucks. It's the only thing about the game I dislike. Otherwise, I've been enjoying the game very much with both me and my sister clocking in 30+ hours of the game already.

it would make sense. there are only 5 right now so a 3 map rotation would involve duplicated.
