maybe for all Konami IPs, but definitely not for just Silent Hill.
They could never make enough money back with that franchise.

Konami games (Silent Hill included ) always sell loads more on Playstation consoles so I don't really get why Microsoft would actually want to buy the franchise and spend billions of bucks nontheless. If they do go ahead it's honestly just a message to the gaming comunity like "We'll save the games you love, 'cause we're made of money" or literally trying to 1-up Sony.

If it was true (and I'm not saying that it is) then it would be billions of yen and not dollars.
If it is true then this this is my message to Microsoft. Create your own franchises! You could have created more than 25 new IPs for the money you spent on buying Mojang.

I really hope it's true just for all the meltdowns and saltiness there would be, it would be hilarious.

There are already a bunch of people getting so defensive over this and this is just in the rumor stage, so imagine if it was actually confirmed.

Rumours be rumours, but this ranks amongst the most ridiculous out there. Billions of dollars for a dormant small franchise in a struggling company? It makes literally no sense whatsoever.

The whole article reads of a sensationalist writer trying to get some hits to meet his quota, so he threw a series of words and numbers together with little concern about how believable it is. Now, I'll look pretty stupid if this ends up being true and that's fine. But, I don't think I need to worry about that.

Silent Hill IP isn't worth that kind of money.
