Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I've accepted Wii U's sales situation

It will sell 18,000,000 to 20,000,000 imo.

Wii U could have been completely different.
1. 1 TF of processing power.
2. No gamepad only pro controller.
3. Splatoon as launch title. And many must have games since Nintendos Wii support became barren after 2010.
4. Actual focus on third parties as they said. Actively working with them.
5. Decent price tag.

The reason we keep getting "why Wii U didnt do well" threads because many havent accepted it. Live the truth. Time to enjoy the system.

Agreed. :D

I find it funny how Sony has already written off the PSV based on its sales, and yet it has still sold better than Wii U.

That's like a double kick to the testes.

Hasn't psv been out like a year longer though? So really wii u is selling more?

Sadly the Wii U probably won't sell more than 20 million units but will be looked back on as a console with a great library of very fun games much like the Gamecube, Dreamcast, Saturn, N64 etc.

I think it will just reach that 18 million treshold.

It won't outsell the Gamecube, that much is pretty much certain.

But just as I didn't care if the Gamecube sold a crapload of units, I don't care if the Wii U don't sells a crapload of units.
Right now, it's the only current gen system I own. And I have a blast with it. That's really all that matters to me.

I can absolutely undersign this.

As long as I have fun with the system (which I do), I'm okay with it not selling loads.

I still doubt Wii U will sell more then 15 Million :(.
Both Wii U and 3DS will likely be replaced at holiday 2016 and that wouldn't be a day too soon.

I don't think we see a home console until 2017. Five years is probably the better bet. The 3DS will get replaced next year though.

The Wii U is down to sub 30k. What's the point of accepting those numbers for Nintendo? Nintendo will replace it asap. 2016 must be their target.

I don't think Nintendo can prepare new home console for 2016. launch, expect if they want another bad launch like Wii U.

Nintendo doesn't lose money do they dont need to rush with new console, for me 2017. is much safer bet.

Also Splatoon will move some consoles.

Well they can't release new home console (if NX is home console) in 2016. if they can't prepare launch console like it should, and not like a Wii U.

At this rate it probably would have been wiser for Nintendo to have kept the Wii going for another year or two until specs for the twins were released. Wii still sold well for its age. Actually it sold better than Wii U did.
