is this just for Japan or is it for everywhere? Japan is quite different from what they show at E3 so it would make sense for Japan to have some announcements

Hmm.. kind of an odd time to have a Direct, though if it really is Japan-only then I guess whatever they're showing won't really conflict with their E3 event.

Iwata will announce that Nintendo's e3 2015 has been delayed until 2016. Please understand.

Seems a bit odd to have it just before E3, I know they did it a few years ago but that was getting some of the technical stuff out of the way...I wonder if we will be seeing a repeat performance here? Unlikely, no doubt we'll see some Japanese trailers and the like which is good news. Don't expect to see anything new or amazing though, that comes in a few weeks.

It's only confirmed for Japan so far. Doesn't mean it's Japan-only.
