A bold prediction... But no. It'll need at least 2 weeks to make a million sold, digital+retail.
so a bit over 900k retail?
not a chance. You should've looked at other WiiU games before you made that statement.

So how did it get to #2 on a multi-platform chart like this?
Charts started going multi-platform to favor 3rd party games after Wii's & DS's dominance last generation.
Hard to have good headlines when Wii Play sells in the Top 10 month after month, year after year.
Everybody should know that these sales charts also function as a form of advertising.
They exist to tell the general public "Look how successful this is! You should join in too!"
It was getting embarrassing seeing old Nintendo games outdo expected blockbusters so policies began to favor a multi-platform format.
So when you see a Nintendo game, which will ALWAYS be single-platform by nature, show up in the Top 10 or even better show up at the TOP of that Top 10...
...you KNOW the game did good.
I would love to know the breakdown on single-platform format.
I wouldn't be surprised if Splatoon showed up at #1 in that format.
How much did each version of The Witcher 3 sell individually I'm wondering?
Splatoon has 4 days to make that worldwide million. May 28th, May 29th, May 30th, May 31st.
I have no doubt that it can do it.

P.S.: Yes I said May 28th. Remember the game came out on May 28th in Japan.

RolStoppable said: John Lucas, the chart situation of the USA doesn't apply to the UK. It has been normal practice to post both, single format and multiformat charts, since forever. Splatoon is #3, behind The Witcher 3 (PS4) and The Witcher 3 (Xbox One). |
So OK cool. I didn't know they did both.
Still a good sign because The Witcher 3 was a big game but already an established franchise.
For newcomer Splatoon to hit this big out of the gate is good news.
Nintendo has succeeded in creating their next monster franchise.
I knew it as soon as I saw all the inspired fan art of those Inkling characters.
I DEFINITELY know it now after Kid Now Squid Now, Splat-at-at-at-at-at-at-at-at-at-Splatoon, & the word FRESH.

If fan art were a good metric for game sales then dragon's crown would have sold 10+ million.

He didn't say how far it carried the system.
Mario Kart sold 1.2m in first weekend, so I can't see Splatoon have similar sale, but I can see 1m on end of June.
