Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why don't larger devs give Wii U owners a chance through kickstarter or sites like it

the same could be asked why they dont crow-funding their niche titles like Konami could have made with Castlevania or Contra. They are too proud for that i think

Because it still wouldn't be worth it. Nintendo gamers who want third party will have a ps or Xbox for that by now.

3rd parties would probably need to raise more than a couple mil just to fund a Wii U version, and since they are publishers, I suppose there is no need for them to need kickstarter. Though i suppose having a test number could maybe test to see if Wii U owners are really interested it...

I think Mighty No. 1 was a kickstarter for PC and Wii U initially. Not sure if there are any others though.

I'm sorry you said larger devs! Ignore my comment.

It's not the money it's the work. It takes more time to port to Wii U than any console due to the fact that it's a customized, proprietary machine that you have to really work at to use well. PS4 and Xbone are extremely similar to PCs; you can, in theory, make an Xbone version and slap it on PS4, Xbone, and PC all with next to no work and it will be fine. Wii U? No, you have to work to make it worth while. And that means allocating resources to it. However, I'm not sure Slightly Mad ever had much of anything on Wii U, they just talked it up for the press coverage. We haven't seen one screen or video. In fact, not a single soul has seen anything about the Wii U version, not even press in private conferences.

True.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I have the feeling that if something like this would happen there would be few donations but lots of forum discussions justifying why it isn't worth it to support said kickstarters.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

It's just not all the work.

Send a Friend Request On PSN :P

Wii U already got it's proper chance during launch. Nintendo wasted that opportunity. If Nintendo was pro active then Wii U might have performed better.

Wii U got a chance at third party for quite a while after launch. Owners just weren't interested.
