Forums - Gaming Discussion - Pre-E3: Your opinion on CGI trailers

E3 is coming soon as you all know and it is almost guaranteed that the publishers will show us a lot of CGI trailers that are loosely related to the game but don't look anything like the final game that we will be playing months or years later.

What do you think of the cinematic CGI trailers? Do you hate them, do you love them, would you only like to see gameplay or cut scenes from the actual game?

Don't copy random editorials.

Its not what I'd get from the actual game, so I'd rather not have them be the whole of the trailer, but more of the gameplay.

well they are fun to watch but definitly not worth it

Considering that those cgi trailes often are millions of dollars i would highly prefer if this money would go into the real game development.

I don't mind CGI trailers as long as they don't try to convinve you it is gameplay.

Usually look good but please, follow it by gameplay!

Unless its like a 20 second max teaser for a game that is coming in 2 years time then I don't mind CGI only.

I don't believe anything if it's not played by journalists, and even then... "In-engine" is also a word you should take with a massive bag of salt.

Publishers and developers should be smart and show an hybrid of both cinematic and gameplay trailers. Or maybe their games are too shitty and they should be smart enough not to show them. Either way, some of e3's announcements are teasers so they may not be ready to show any gameplay and there they go with the cinematic trailer.

What I really would like is a disclaimer at the start of in-game footage saying: "Pre-downgrade footage"

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

They're very nice to look at, but they're never an important factor to me when it comes to buying a game, as they're not an accurate representation of the final game.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I don't mind them if accompanied with actual gameplay. Otherwise I just shrug and wait for gameplay next E3.

CGI trailers are cool for games that are far away from release (e.g Cyberpunk or Tomb Raider). The best is a CGI trailer followed by a short demonstration.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine
